He will send you on of his coolers, and you can have a three way comparative test.

Its now 1:30am Wednesday. This aint an easy car to be doing this test lol. And its been an absolute scorcher the last couple of days in Sydney. Fitted the Chinese one up first went for a 4 hr blast. First thing I noticed was a massive drop in throttle response which I f$#@ hate. Second is that awful turbo whining which I also hate (yeah I hate the sound of tubos especially when its all noise and no Gs) 3rd thing Iv noticed is that the engine took a lot longer to warm up not that I ever timed it but its definitely there. Min temps were 4* above ambient temps and running short bursts of 17psi (measured at the manifold) slowing down short bursts again (up to 160ish) the temps went to a max of 12* above (temps reached over 40* above that of ambient with stock cooler) . I stopped and got fuel had a smoke and coffee fired her back up and the temps went to 38* above ambient! I cruised at 60km/h for several km and they VERY slowly dropped until I got impatient and WOT her and the temps dropped instantly?? Its my first turbo build so be patient with me lol.. I didn't think that would happen. I done this several times. So back home it was to try the pretty Plazmaman. 3hrs later due to having to bend the sh*t out of my A/C cooler pipe without breaking it to fit it in back on the rd we went again. Exactly the same results. Laggy as F%$# took ages for the engine to reach temps min temps were 5* above and reached a max of 11-13*.. Seemed a little bit more unstable but giving the equipment Im using to measure with and the 3hr break they came up almost identical. Pulled over for roughly the same amount of time and the heat soak was 36* above. Drove in the same manner and it dropped VERY slowly until given roughly the exact point it was WOT and the exact same results. Done this several times. My Conclusion... Unless Iv got the energy to do this all again at the dyno which I doubt results will not differ much considering the boost Ill be running. If you love the growl of a turbo go the cold air intake it also makes your engine bay more neat and I think its the main reason for the massive drop in temps. Unless your going to be running over 500AWHP where the $2400 IC "might" make a difference go for it. Im guessing the couple degress less in heat soak was due to the plazmaman IC being further from the radiator due to it being 24mm thinner. The standard top mount IC is garbage unless its snowing.Plazmaman IC core size 460WX400HX76 Cost $2400 Including pluming Rolin DriftBitz (ebay special) 450WX300X100 Cost $350 Including DIY Pluming. Its not an extreme test but this was not for the extremist. Porting cylinder heads match porting manifolds tuning and matching induction for yrs ect ect you learn about how things flow and about heat problems. Some1 above mentioned you cant tell by looking into an IC and telling the difference. Well to me you can. Both ICs are roughly the same weight and size. One has protruding tubes and are very close to the end tanks as well as fins inside which will cause turbulence so the extra 100mm in length didnt really help. The other was too thick which would make it harder for air to pass through to keep it cool once it gets hot. $2000 in difference they performed pretty much the same on the street. Fuel injection double overhead cams variable cam timing blah blah blah. Absolute garbage!! Timing chain guides break cams chew out wrong bore stroke combo ect ect. The cost of parts is a joke!! $1000 for an oil pump $2000 for valve springs retainers and cams approximately $5000 for turbo and manifold over $6000 for fmic and intakes $10,000 for a box over $1000 just for a few bolts $1200 for coils the list goes on and on. Its hard to work on also. No matter how much you spend your fmic still gets a hell of a lot of heat soak all resulting in an engine that will NEVER be responsive NEVER be economical compared to a N/A V8. The bore and stroke is just wrong to start of with yeah you can change it all but its still a piece of s%$# low comp laggy fuel guzzling engine. If I can talk the mrs into it its going in the bin and buying another old school Bronco. $15k I can build an extremely tough push rod engine that will run circles around this bucket of over engineered complicated for nothing lemon. Leave this for the young generation that knows no better.Test wasnt useless to me at all.

Besides the recpo brabham...
