Which ones do you reckon appear to know what they are doing the best?

But yeah....the Pedders inspection was great...only $28 and spent an hour looking over the car (or at least seemed that way lol).I went to Pedders Joondalup and spoke to Dominic (manager/owner I'm pretty sure) - under the recommendation of my service dude at Seaview as apparently they send it to him when they need specialist advice...so sounded good enough to me.I will have to book in the gfs ford laser soon; cause its starting to handle a little crappier these days. AFAIK all Pedders shops would offer the same service...so whatever local one to you should give you a report and point you in some direction if there's suspension issues?I also liked Wilkinsons suspension (for my previous car) - although some of the dudes there are rude; so just depends who you get on the day I went several times for different bushes and they seem to know their sh*t (and are slightly cheaper than WA Suspensions)WA Suspensions also know their stuff (especially this one dude I met - cant remember his name but he was a skyline fanatic and was super smart for a younger bloke). But yeah... BFYB Pedders would be the first place I would recommend...Good Luck! Edited 27/12/14 10:42 AM by PTR_NITRO_FG

Or maybe that was CV joints But yeah no noises on mine...on the Pedders report it says "wheel bearings or Hub assemblies" and for both F & R it says "Pass" so assume mine are ok?I've got bushes happening hopefully sometime during the next fortnight. Then I will sort out front discs to be machined and maybe new pads too (just to rule out pad/rotor combo).

Just had my front discs machined this morning (but was too poor to replace the pads as well). So for now we have no shudder - but I guess time will tell whether the shudder comes back after 5000kms. I'm a bit sceptical - as the so called expert from brake place says its normal for Fords and Holdens to always require machining. I asked him even for such little kms (5000kms) and he says yeah mate, they are just like that due to the hat type rotor that modern cars run and it builds up heat and warps quickly (he said apparently old school style rotors had more insulation or some sh*t?). I question why my gfs ford laser doesn't need constant machining, and he says probably the weight of the car (with Fords/Holdens being heavy). I still call big time BS on his theory, cause even one of my old VZ commonwhores I had for 25,000kms and no machining was required in that time. I realise now too that his logic is spastic....as many people on here get 30,000-50,000kms without needing to machine the rotors. These dudes are supposed to be 'experts' and doing it for 30+ years and apparently all the major dealers NOR come to them for brake specific queries/work and blah blah blah. I specifically asked him to clean the rear part of the rotor hat area for rust/corrosion and also the hub area, and told him to make sure they use a torque wrench only (no guns) and do the star pattern thing. Whether the mechanic did it I cannot be sure; but I will probably double check and re torque them myself when I have time at home. So yeah.....see how I go (but I'm 90% positive this won't be the end and I'll be doing more sh*t later to try and rid the car of the shudder). I still have a random slight vibration that occurs between 90-110kmh (mainly only when cruising along I.e. cruise control/no throttle input); and the quality of road will often dictate how harsh the vibration is.....its only really felt a little through steering wheel and mainly near the front floor/pedal area (and where I rest my left foot). So not sure if there is other steering components still needing addressing....ball joints? steering rack? something? The joys of second hand cars lol

Nup.Bullsh*t.I belt the crap out the Brembos on my taxi, and my discs only need machining when the pads have worn them out (ie lip on the outside of the disc rotors). The current front discs have done at least 300,000km since they were last machined. Although, they are well overdue for replacing now (ie minimum thickness). That's a set of DBA5000 355mm disc rotors. That I bought secondhand for $200. Probably got my money's worth there. Get the engine mounts and transmission mount checked by a mechanic that knows how to check them. Check the centre bearing as well.

Might be common for him if he never fixes/identifies the cause...
