How many Ks has your car done.

Just saw 116k. that's crap for a low K car. Suspensions is falling to bits..

^^^Dont think so? But TBH not sure what I would look for if it was. I assume marks/deposits on the rotor itself which I dont see any.

The pads im using are apparently questionable...so maybe ill try a new set after machining fronts...just in case

Lol didnt think my car was low kms :P

I thought I read most bushes are good for 100000kms? Or at least the major bushes?

It was a kalgoorlie car...so maybe their roads are harsher and did more damage.

Meh...

Mate I had an EL XR8 great car but under braked. Especially in NT were I could drive at whatever speed I wanted to. I put slotted and drilled DBA rotors and EBC Greenstuff pads.

Worked great for about 5000 km the I had the same issue. Got hot out resin on rotors. Shudder city.

EBC blamed DBA

DBA blamed EBC

Changed pads and machined rotors. But never completely got rid of shudder of got braking performance back.

Man...don't put that voodoo on me :P

I hate the blame game...maybe ill have to whack in RDA crappy pads when I machine the rotors...then there would be no blame on the combo

Apparently DBA recommend Bendix Heavy Duty?

Grrrr....all I can do is try I suppose.

Maybe this thread will be revived next year....if the issue isn't sorted lol

I like bendix ultimate or pbr performance pads for general duties They wear the disc heaps and keep the surface fresh. Wheels are black after 20ks though

^^^ yeah im gunna wait a bit until Ralph has given them the 2 thumbs up :P

Apparently hes impressed so far...so will confirm with him when the time comes

Is wearing discs heaps actually desirable? I dont want superstar performance and prefer my black wheels to not be dusty every 20kms lol

Even the combo I have now is adequate for my daily duties...if I had no shudder there would be no complaints from me (in terms of performance/stopping abilities).

My theory is that internal irregularities in the castings that produce the cooling channels within the rotors are a significant problem.

If the cooling channels are not completely even within the rotor, the rotors would not expand and contract evenly when heated (by braking), so wear unevenly or just have hot/high points grab unevenly when braking. Machining would make everything flat when cold, but when heat from braking comes into play, the issue re occurs.

That is my theory but I need to look into if it is actually what goes on.

Quite a bit info here so I dont know if I have got every detail, but for shuddering issue how about try machining the rotors first to see if it fixes it, if it comes back pretty quickly try OEM Rotors or another brand
