Have a 2010 xr6 turbo completley stock, have notice lately coming into summer and on hotter days the car has become sluggish and less responsive, also after short drives without thrashing the thermo fan comes on. Brought the car in may so havnt had it while its been warmer weather. just wondering if its normal or is it something to look into?

summer does not help ,how old is the radiator fluid ?a flush may be a good idea if it has never been done . the thermos only come on if they have to ,but that would be normal for them to come on in summer . also let the engine idle for a minute or so before turning it off ,or it can damage the turbo

Yeh it's really bad. I lost 9 mph down quarter mile in 30 degree heat vs 18 or so degrees Powers just gone :( hoping upgraded intercooler will help the sh*thouse hot weather performance

I've been reading up on this subject lately and am looking at ways of making the stock setup more efficient.

All I'm after is similar performance to cold morning or night driving conditions whilst trying to keep it as stock as possible.

I've looked at external intercooler sprays but for street driving this doesn't look like it's going to be much help.

Exhaust wrapping and insulating intake will have a limited effect as well as look unstock.

Trying to insure the intercooler only gets ambient air , but again will have very limited effect on a hot day in traffic.

The only real solution appears to be WATER METH INJECTION .

There's a whole thread on this!

Water meth injection seems to solve all the problems simply because it gets to the root of the problem....INTAKE AIR TEMPS.

It can also be hidden , car shouldn't need a retune, maint is straight forward and if you do run out there's no side effects other than car will suffer from normal conditions.

I'm still researching this but it seems to be the only really effective solution for what I'm after.
