Ford replaced my diff recently. When I got the car back, it was changing lanes by itself. I took it back to ford, and after they put it on the hoist they claimed it needed a wheel alignment.

The following day I almost killed myself on the M5, when the car was almost uncontrollable.

I limped home and got it checked by a reputable suspension workshop. They claimed the car needed a wheel alignment, BUT REQUIRED THE LOWER CONTROL ARM TO BE BOLTED TIGHT also.

I could not believe this. I have lost all respect for Ford Australia as they put my family's life at risk.

PS: the diff still whines at 90 km

Hold on a minute there sunny jim!

It's the dealers service department that's the useless pack of pr!cks, not Ford Australia. If you have to publically bag a group of individuals at least make it the right people!

You always have to get your service advisor to go for a drive with you after they have finished the car, and as for the diff, join the club. I had 2 fitted but that 90-95k noise is still there. I think it is a complimentary optional extra, whether you want it or not. Must be driving FMC bloody mad :ta:

all right then , consider the service dept suckers flamed, as this genuinely is very very ordinary indeed. :ta:

If it were me I would be making a polite call to FMCO customer line in Vic just to let em know.

Now I dont know if this is normal or not but my gearbox / diff shunts or clunks , well its not a hard clunk but in sequential shift mode when shifting from 2nd to first at any speed 40kph 10kph I get a very noticable klung sheesh type of sound dunno how eles to explain it, and how it also haapens some time from stand still selecting reverse just the clonk sound.

Doesnt effect the car any still drops down and does what its supposed to but I'm wondering if all Ts do this?

Nope, they don't all do it. My diff whines between 95 and 100kph - that's all. Still deciding what to ask the dealer to do about it. Some say that all BA Xr6t diffs do this. Others say that a changeover solved the problem. GOK who's right.

Flip a coin might be the way to go! At least there's the 100000k warranty. Wish I knew whether or not I have an inalienable right to a noise-free diff.

Cheers

PS in the early 50's my late father bought a Singer sports. Didn't sleep the 2 weeks he had it due to diff noise. Managed to get his money back. I think diff noise was a bigger deal in those days but it's still surprising that transmission noise wasn't a fact of life then - why should it be now?
