Hey Krash, Very nice setup!

Just a 2 quick questions,

Obviously you need Prem Sound, is that right?

And does your Blaupunkt system include SatNav or is it just DVD/MP3 only?

Thanks mate!

Very nice indeed !

For those with just standard sound (or is it prestige?) with the 6 stacker in-dash and standard screen ... how hard is it to upgrade the screen to this for dvd input? I assume the whole console would need to be replaced because of the difference in screen size? Or am I stuck with having to put a screen in the passenger airbag position in the dash :) On the ceiling isn't an option in the ute and I was totally unaware of the premium sound option when I bought my ute - thought 6 stacker indash was the ducks nuts :)

Oh how I have missed out ;)

B.

Ford won't give you premium sound and the colour screen in the ute, presitge is as high as you can go. Swapping the ICC is not an easy or cheap thing. Your best bet is to get a screen mounted just above the ICC where the analogue clock normally goes. I have seen installs with a screen mounted there.

That is where I have my boost guage ... Will have to go with my idea of the space where the passenger airbag goes (if you got one). Thanks for the info though!

Cheers,

B

I rang Blaupunkt about it and the BA falcon Sat Nav pack is $2900. Expect around $300 for installation.

Still a bit rich. Hopefully the prices will fall soon.

That price seems reasonable to me, considering what you get. After all the StreetPilot III has colour screen and voice prompted directions aswell and their $2795RRP, although being portable means no install fee. :smilielol:

Well basically all I need is the Blaupunkt Sat nav and that's it. The whole thing is wired up for it. I may ask how much it is. Maybe it'll end up cheaper because I already have the required interface etc installed. The bloke that installed my dvd said "The wiring is in there now, all you need is the sat nav unit..."

On a side note, I noticed a dead pixel on my roof mount screen. I'll have to find out what the warrenty is like with 1 dead pixel. I know that with TFT monitors for computers some companies won't replace unless it is more than 3 or 4 pixels and depends on location.. Oh well, will find out tomorrow hopefully.

If it's any use, Tonkin's in Adelaide replaced a Clarion screen with 1 dead pixel for me in Adelaide about 4 years ago. They considered 1 dead pixel clearly unacceptable. (Unfortunately that unit got stolen a week later when some basta*d vandalised the dash in a city carpark!)

This unit comes without a screen. Its just the nat unit that sits in the boot as well as the interface required to hook it up to the screen.

If you already have the interface then I assume you could knock $500 off the price.

I still think its a little rich. Ford should offer their unit as an aftermarket add on. and Ive seen this unit on the net for Just under $2K AU

Slightly better picture of the 2 screens (The BA and the roof mount) taken in the day.
