yes I know ,how stupid . its just about all new except for the engine . rebuild turbo ,rebuild btr box , rebuild air con , all new hoses , etc it all ads up from buying a wreck ($2400 ) and

even making about $3500 of it for parts . just to get it tuned with new 1000 injectors and a e boost street cost me $2600 . it all ads up mate . harmonic balancer ,sump gasket , turbo

oil filter ,waterpump , =$350 hose clamps ,turbo hoses etc oils, radiator genuine xr 6 (lots of fins ) $240 .radiator fluid ,power steer fluid .custom battery box and new marine battery

. and there was way more parts that I renewed . new tyres $1000 yokohama delivery stars (lol) achilles 123s semi slicks (powercruise only ) new heater shaft .

should have bought a new car I know ,but I had fun doing it (kind of when you look at the good times, and not the struggle of getting wrong or faulty parts )

that's pretty much the same as what I did for my build which someone already linked to. Swapped from BA falcon sedan auto to xr6t manual and more than happy to answer any questions you have as its all fresh, have a read but there was lots that was not put into it as it would just be too long (I hear this all the time :bsmeter:).. Electrics wise I used everything forward of the front seats so it fired up first time, but by everything I mean literally everything. How complete is the donor car? When you say it has no interior do you mean no seats, door cards etc? Do you have the ignition barrel/keys/door lock/complete icc or just bcm/cluster etc?

Also if you can I'd not get rid of the donor car until yours is finished, there will be something that you forget or breaks or someone else but you of course loses.

Also another thing id suggest is working out first if you want to just strip and re-assemble or rebuild parts and do preventative maintenance while its apart. If you can afford the time & money I'd highly recommend doing at least the major bushes especially the diff. I did everything but the diff and have had the car off the road twice in the first week which included a busted drive shaft because of it which should be sorted tomorrow. Handling wise the only thing I changed before I took the car off the road was the bushes and rear tyre size but the difference in handling was massive. Worth every drop of sweat!

I'm still here guys! thanks for all the info! just getting started on it this week, I have a buyer for the gearbox from the mk1 so im gonna get onto it tomorrow. Im a student working part time so time is extremely hard to come by unfortunately, but I plan on having it all finished by end of holidays in Feb. Ill keep this thread updated with the progress, and I appreciate all the help guys, im sure ill run into plenty of troubles along the way.

I read that thread from start to finish, lots of good info for me there thanks mate! The xr6t is fully complete minus all seats and door cards. The indicator lever feels extremely loose in it so id say there is damage in there somewhere not sure how bad. Will I have to use the xr steering column for any reason at all?

by the time you have it all back together the car will end up costing you a fortune ,I have done it . can give you my phone number and guide you thru this no problems mate . its not

hard just time consuming and lots of money in the end . send me a pm and I will send you my mobile no .best of luck . ps it is a lot of fun doing it

thanks man, I will do that

Will update next when the motor and gearbox is out of the white ba!

If you have the whole car just do what I did, about half way through my build I said it probably wasnt necessary to change all of this stuff but I just did because... after finishing it I absolutely wouldnt have done it any different. You dont have to use the steering column from the XR, but if you keep the ignition barrel its just easier to swap it over as it will already be out. Also if the xr6 is a mk2 BA it probably has auto headlights on the column, if so just swap the dash as it will have the wiring for the UV detection plus have the traction control plug already cut. If the dash is damaged you can still run the auto headlight column with your old dash. Your old dash will also have the traction control wiring loom tucked away somewhere with a couple of blue wires attached to a pug, you'll just need to cut a square hole for the switch as I assume your car doesnt have one either.

If you swap EVERYTHING electric forward of the seats your car will effectively wake up as a manual xr6t and fire up first go - HVAC, dash, cluster, complete ICC, airbag module, steering column/ignition barrell/drivers door lock (and keys), left and right wiring looms (grab the turbo loom too), abs module & grab the additional lines that run to the rear (I forgot this one) plus a bunch of stuff I no doubt have forgotten at 7.45am lol. It is the most time consuming and messiest but it'll cause the least amount of issues in the end. If you start mixing and matching parts on the CANBUS you will absolutely run into issues, all of it can be re-programmed at ford so its not a huge deal it just requires you towing the car to ford, paying some cash and getting it reprogrammed.. no big deal but if you can avoid it I would.

Look forward to reading how it progresses, where bouts are you located?

I fitted the traction control button and fog light switch on the opposite side where my xt dash had a cut out . all I had to do is extend the cables by soldering on about 300 mm of wire to each cable
