Yeah I'm slowly coming around to that realisation myself. If the car around the engine is good enough then you rely less on the motor to be the saving grace of the car. The FG is a taxi at its core...sure it's got a bloody great motor in it, but the rest of the car was not designed with performance in mind. If it were then diff bushes and transmissions etc wouldn't be an issue.

The VF at least had some money spent on it and they put some thought into the chasis.

I just went for a spin in masda74's turbo with the newer Nolathane bushes and his makes the same noises as mine does, only quieter...so basically unless I go back to stock bushes then I'm going to have a noisey rear end...which I really don't think I want in my daily driver.

Sorry Ford, I think I'll be buying a VF!

The FG is near a perfect car bar the rear suspension issue and some small things that's what ruins it. They drive great, heaps of power, great Autobox and they have enough interior features you do not really need all the cutting edge crap the VF has even though it's cool it's still just a car.

I was always a Expensive Daewoo man, but much prefer the FG over VE.

The VF though is an overall more equipped and refined car, I just don't like the dash setup.

just looked at a GTS in white with 350 klm on the clock ,and fainted over the price tag ($91,000 ) no thanks

I bet it doesn't destroy itself if driven hard.

There were a few low kms examples in WA in the low 80s.

My budget just would not stretch to a GTS ~90k but would of liked one and apples for apples boxes well with similar euro cars

There's always the Herrod blower kit Jet. Costs about $13,500 fitted with stock zorst or $16,000ish with full zorst. Uses the blower they put in the GTS but makes more power than the GTS. Comes with warranty too (). I went for a ride in one with it fitted today and it boogied hey! It had a trans tune as well which was nice and chilled when you're putting around but shifted nice and hard when getting up it.

Think I'll go for one of those when I owe nothing on my VF...oh yeah, did I mention I'm getting a VF Bogan special Redline? Basically signed up for an auto MY15 model in Prussian Steel Grey with the paddle shifters and blacked out interior highlights rather than the MY14 with the titanium highlights (ew, what were they thinking?!). Apparently there's some MY15's already built so they're calling up tomorrow to see if they can snag one in the colour I want, so I may get it before Christmas. Also considering getting the blacked out grills and fog light surrounds and the intakes on the side...but given you've still got the chrome door handles and window surrounds on the redline I'm thinking it might look a bit out of place...plus it adds more money, so I may leave them out yet...not sure. Either way, dealer is giving me $60k for the GT and will swap out the Shockworks, diff bushes and short shifter for me. Still negotiating with them about price on this, but either way it means I can pick up my new car, leave the GT with them and come back later and pick up my coilovers etc ready to sell. I figure once I sell the Shockworks, shifter, bushes and Rspec wheels and tyres I'll break even while changing cars.

I drove a stock Bogan special today, just to see what the stock power is like...and sure it's rather lacking compared to my GT, but it had enough go for what you need driving day to day. If not, I can just turn up the premium stero, which actually is half decent in the Redlines. I'm excited!

Cheers Peppy! I've been a Ford guy ever since I can remember, so I never thought I'd even consider buying a Holden...but they really are the all round better car. I'll miss the Miami though, that's a fantastic motor...but the rest of the car it's been fitted to just isn't up to the task unfortunately. I really wish it was, but that's life I guess. Also it just occured to me that there's no real point me paying the dealer the remove the diff bushes and shifter for me to sell...it'd probably cost me about the same for them to remove as I could sell them for. Probably only really worth them changing out the suspension, will see if I can get them to throw that in for free.
