I went from a Falcon ute (12 years, now stored) to a new Navara stx DC diesel :( I wanted to love that car, but hated it. Such an ordinary ownership experience. Sold it 15 months old.

I 'downgraded' to a 2 1/2 year old T ute. 3 years later, it's still under warranty, with a couple of issues dealt with. AND it's been an absolutely enjoyable car. I love my ute! Knowledge from this forum and stocking up on a few spares means I'll be able to keep it forever.

Some journalists have called them the Tradesman's Ferrari. Maybe you should have tried your luck on another Falcon ute, before going for the sensible Toyota. I hope you get a good run out of it.

Mate, you're in Australia comparing a high priced porche against a budget general purpose muscle car. Compare an apple against an apple and then come back. I've worked my way up to having my ute. From owning cars like 138ci LC Torana, 253ci VB, 202ci VH, 3L VL, numerous XD's (all with no working door handles) 3.8L VX... Plus various other $hit boxes. These are the sort of cars I grew up in and around. I've got an FG XR6t ute now, and guess what car is easily the fastest, easily handles best, easily has the best safety features, and easily suits every one of my needs at a price I never thought you could buy a performance car for?....

That's good that you love your car. It's just sad that you haven't been exposed to a broader range of cars to make a true comparison.

Wait until your ute has over 100000klm, and come back and tell me if it's still going strong. Or costing you a lot in repairs.

That's most cars mate. If I can avoid it I will ditch my cars around the 100000 k mark and keep them in warranty.

If the new Utes weren't so bloody ugly I would suggest giving it one more go. But alas they look like whales.

Well mate, I only wish I could be as cultured as you.

As far as I can see it, I've got a car that can tow a caravan across the nullaboar, take all my rubbish to the tip, take my dirt bikes away for a weekend and still be able to bust out an 11 sec pass.... All for under $50k

You obviously are comparing a car built for Australian conditions to cars built for others...

I'm racing around nurburgring and down the autobaan - I'll take a porche or equivalent.

Top Gear has done comparisons with Aussie cars (albeit a vauxhaul) and said bang for buck, Aussie cars wins hands down... I suppose they don't know what they're talking about either?

Can I suggest selling the porche and buying a rolls Royce? I believe they're 100% hand made and can offer the quality you so clearly demand from your vehicles?

Cultured maybe, but more a realist.

I never made any comparisons to the other cars I own, you did. I merely stated the issues with my ownership.

Regardless of the other cars that I own or intend to purchase, less people are buying Falcons than ever, and ford will cease Production in Australia.

I would too. Who goes camping at the dump? Or did your car break down at the dump so you had to camp overnight until somebody in a toyota came to help?
