Hi Peter

I have had the APS kit fitted for two weeks. I was wondering does the computer still back off the timing if needed ?. I know that in stock form it did.

Cheers

Yes the stock ford computer will function as it did previously, and the knock sensors will retard ignition timing if required. By the way how is the car performing with the phase II system?

Hi Peter

I love it ! It's actually idling smoother now as well. Heaps of power!

I think it loses a bit of power when hot. In the mornings I think it goes abit harder...................more responsive. I thought maybe the tiimng is retarted when the car gets hotter.

Another Quick Question-

I notices that the sump nut does not seal 100%. I changed it with another one but it still is a little damp. Have you noticed this on other BA's.

Hi XRT330

Have noticed you've an APS stage II kited auto XR6T ... please let us all know how its going and if your happy with it.

Would be very interested in its driveability, power and shift quality of the tranny under full throttle upshifts in drive especially 2nd to 3rd.

Look forward to hearing back from you

Hi

I have had the kit for about two weeks and I love it. This car is very fast ! The Exhaust is slighly deeper and louder. Apart from that is sounds like a stock car. My car is a manual and I think if you drive sensibly the gearbox will last. CNJ Motorsport install the kit for me. They did a great job. Very neat and professional. Driving around town the car doesn't even hit 6psi ( Sticking to the speed limit). If you floor 1st or 2nd say goodbye to your tyres........... heaps of wheel spin.

All Good Fun!

I have not noticed the sump being damp, though its not an area of the car we often view as we dont service cars.

Would be best to ask your local Ford dealer if this is a common problem, it may be a small weep from the rear main seal, only my best guess.

No doubt that the engine will be down on power slightly on very hot days, this is true on both N/A and turbo engines. :(

With the Phase lll does the intercooler impact on engine cooling? I noticed the intercooler is nice and large (which is good). Also with the larger intercooler woud this give a more consistant power output than the original cooler?

Good question, In reality this would never be a problem on a street car as its difficult to hold full engine load at high rpm for any length of time before you hit the speed limiter. :(

On a race track doing hot laps it would be recommended to upgrade the radiator to maintain consitant engine coolant temperature.

Peter

I have had the first stage of your kit fitted ie. chip and very happy with results.

Question. On a very hot day performance right across the range dropped to the same as standard car.

Standard car obviously would have dropped as well but will this happen with the stage 11 kit as I don't think a change in intercooler is part of the kit.

PS I use a pretty basic performance check over a measured bit of road and accelerate from 2000 rpm 4th gear and check the gain. Did it before the chip was installed and after and on this particularly hot day 35 degrees.

No doubt that performance will fall away to some degree in high ambients, though this is true of all engines. N/A, Supercharged, and Turbocharged.

I would be surprised that the engine would drop 30 to 40 KW in these conditions though I have not measured the loss so I cant say for sure.

All engines will loose some power on hot days that is a phase II xr6t to a twin turbo 996 porsche and of course a more consistant lower charge air temperature will maintain a higher level of power under the same conditions.
