If you think 1k for VCM Suite is expensive, your going to sh*t yourself when you find out whant and Xcal-4 and Tune is going to cost.

A corporate nistune license was also well over $1k, Xcal software etc obviously are designed for tuning houses so it is fair to expect the $5-10k or whatever licensing is, for a single car customer license that is limited it would be reasonable to expect that you could get a license for under $1k, it seems as though they don't cater for the average joe and all their pricing is aimed at workshops that will make a profit out of their software.

Nistune for example recognise there are at home tweakers and hence sell a simple license for $200 that can only be used on 1 car.

As I mentioned above, there are other multiplier that would make it unlikey that you would see 14deg

What do you mean? It will add fuel etc to stop it pinging, or it will not pull 14 degrees for some reason and will continue to ping?

That is a shame. Hopefully that will help my ZF last or even improve!

Im unsure what your point is mate. You cannot use nistune to tune these cars so continually bringing it up is pointless.

If you choose to have you car tuned by a shop using SCT you'll need to Purchase an Xcal (Aprox 700) and then pay for the tuners time. I've not had my car tuned by a shop for many years but I would budget 1300 to 1500 for an intial Xcal Purchase and tune.

SCT no longer offer the racer pro package. So as a hobbyist you cannot tune your car with SCT.

There are other multipliers that will add and also subtract timing based upon numerous other conditions so it is unlikely the knock retard system would ever

A: need to reduce timing by 14deg or

B:have 14 deg of timing retard available.

Im done now as this thread is starting to smell a bit Nistroll to me.

I am getting an SCT and getting it tuned by someone, I can then buy HP tuners if I want but probably won't due to the price.

Not sure why you are getting annoyed? I'm just asking questions to learn, sounds like you need a hug.

I've spent years in the nissan scene hence why I keep comparing, just trying to get my head around the way tuning etc works in the xr6 arena as it seems quite different.

Yes they are a multiplication of the the base table. Then assuming there is no others coming into play it would be (desired ignition advance-(knock limit x multiplier table) For example say for high IATs there might be a multiplication factor of 1.15, that increase the base value by 15% then that number would be subtracted from the timing in the MBT table. It is a bit more complicated as there can be a few multiplier tables in effect in each calculation.
