I have had VCM running via A W7 emulator on my note 10.1 but the OTG port cannot supply enough juice for the MVPI. HPT are VERY VERY clear about not using external power supplies to run the MVPI due to the sensitive nature of the step up voltage circuit required to put the PCM into field flash mode.

My solution was to purchase a Dell Lattitude ST (refurb) runs HPT/Livelink and Forscan. Same physical sign as a 10" tablet and touch screen so ticks all the boxes

Essentially you are correct. Retard limit = max timing available to be pulled, Recovery rate is the number of degrees per firing event (or crank rotation, i forget) added back in and delay is basically how long the pcm holds the timing back before entering the recovery strategy.

There are several other multipliers that are applicable so it's unlikely you would ever see the full 14 deg. Also don't be trick into thinking a lean mix is the only reason for knock. There are plenty of other factors that could generate inaudible knock with perfectly "safe" AFR's and Timing (IAT as an example)

Nope just more hijacking lol..

Coz where I was heading ralph surely the android device needs system access to give the VM access to physical hardware. Not very practical for consumers to have to void the warranty on their devices to use it. I have a Samsung ativ pro I intend to use for the same purpose. Battery life is ridiculously good.

And op this is kind of on topic, you sound like the sort of guy that is willing and keen to learn. Buy hp tuners like I am and do it yourself. Then dont worry bout sh*t tuners and only have yourself to blame heh.

Happy birthday to me, happy birthday to me.

Yeah normally it is from a tune without enough buffer, extra load due to getting awesome traction and high IAT from sitting idling in traffic on a hot day.

14 degrees retard would surely stop almost all pinging though yes? I mean for example my skyline which ran 15 degrees base timing barely ran more than 20 degrees at peak torque, pulling 2 deg out was severe enough let alone 14.

What I'm getting at is providing the tuner didn't tune with knock retard enabled, and inadvertently had it retarding timing ALL the time, 14 degrees should mean it is almost impossible to blow a donk up due to detonation yes?

I made a thread about HP tuners vs XCAL recently, I think once I get my car tuned I will consider getting HP tuners, however at $1k it is a bit expensive, nistune for the skylines is only $200

edit: Team viewer is awesome, I use it to log into my work pc -> vm -> into random control systems at work via my phone when I'm away from work and get asked to change something important.

If you think 1k for VCM Suite is expensive, your going to shit yourself when you find out whant and Xcal-4 and Tune is going to cost.
