They are very quiet in standard form, there is some induction noise under hard acceleration but not much out the back.

With a 3'' Herrod system it's another story, just a nice thump at idle but when I play with the loud pedal it's very obvious what's under the Bonnet.

that's great stuff, I can get the

5.4 SOHC Manual with

Momo Sports Sterring Wheel (Red Insert)

Momo Momo Gear Knob (Red Insert)

Venom Paint ( Red .. lol )

Boot Liner

Scuff Plates (Ford Logo)

Carpet Mats (Ford Logo)

Dash Mat

Tow Pack

Cruise

Prestige Audio (I'll get an amp and better speakers & sub fitted after)

Pwr windows frnt & bck

17x8 XR Wheels

Auxillary Lights

Limited Slip Diff

Sports IRS

Side Airbags

45% Dark Tinted Windows

Body Styling Kit ( no rear spoiler :) )

The Optioned up XT all for $1000.00 cheaper than an XR6 Turbo, I know they aint the same but, I think the venom with dark tint and bodykit with a clean ass with no spoiler will look trick. And should go hard & later lower it a bit and like you said get the exhaust done , Itt'l be a baby XR8 :)

The thing is you get the standard interior which is where you spend all your time.

AMoffat,

You are right, it doesn't have the same interior as an XR but when you compare it to something like the XR6 AU that I stepped out of there is bugger all difference, in fact I think the XT is better.

My biggest regret is letting the better half talk me into putting the rear spoiler on it at the 3k service, I don't hate it but from some angles I prefer it without the Wing.

I will post some photo's next week so I can get the opinion of others on the Spoiler and the change of Wheels, I know it's too late to change things now but the opinion of fellow Ford lovers is valuable.

Cheers, Bazza.

Hey Bazza,

Always admired your car, well done. I too have a soft spot for the XTv8 with a bit of a tweak  Haven't discounted having one of these myself yet. Have you considered colour coding the side body strips and mirrors? That's about the only thing I do not like about the XT's except if you order a black one of course.

I think your rear spoiler will look ok due to the colour of your car (Acid Rush). Sometimes these things are worth while doing anyway to keeping the peace (if you know what I mean :nugget: )

In your opinion, how do you think she (the XT) would hold up compared to an SV8 in modified form? (e.g. exhaust and suspension). To compare it otherwise would be unfair IMO as the SV8 has these features from factory. I also know that Rob (Herrod) claims a 15-20rwkW gain from the full exhaust changeover on the Barra 220.

With those gains a stock XR8's 260 would be fair game if it was not for the higher rev limiter. I've noticed 'BOF' over on FF bagging the BA 220 at every opportunuity, claiming this car/engine combo is a slug. I for one certainly do not agree and would like to see him take a ride in yours by the sounds of it.

Cheers,

Colville

I went back to the dealer tonight put a hold on my XR8 order and looked at the XR6T's in the yard and thought OMG they are beautifull, then thought how much I like the V8's, and man this is tough ...I dont want to spend too much money and the BA has a nice ass clean and bare ... I would never put a spoiler on its ass if I had the choice, I want a car that moves real fast when I want it to looks unique and has a presence and a sound , and with all the XR's on the road, they are very common now,... so to have a car that is as powerfull as an XR6T and sounds like a V8 and has the discernable street cred of a very nice vehicle,... I think its well worth the experiment ,.... and I dont want to look like a sheep ..... But I want a very nice car , and I have never ever had the opportunity to buy anything new before and I am stepping out of a 91 Cressida ! ... Just my $0.02c worth ,.. ,.. Man its a real hard one ...... But I want a V8, the stock XR8 would cost me 5 grand more , .. what should I do ? Bugger ........... and bugger again ....................

Mongrell, not having driven the XT V8 I cant say but I had the opertunity to drive a full spec XR8 manual and I wasen't over impressed. I own the turbo with the auto option and mine car was just as quick if not quicker. I cant say about value for money since in NZ our fords come will most of your options as base, don't ask me why? No matter what your choice you will love it!! And in my view there isn't much between the sound of the 8 or 6T except I think the 6T has the most wonderul induction noise when the right foot hits the firewall. With the right system I think the 6T would really come on song!

Who's copping the depreciation? You or a lease company.

If its you, I would tread warily. In 3 years time, an optioned up XT with V8 will be worth little more than a standard one, no matter what you paid for it originally. Wheras an XR6T will probably hold its value well (for a Falcon), possibly the the XR8 will too, but less likely.

This may influence your choice. Good luck.
