G'day,

I had a look on the forum here before posting this and couldn't quite come across what I was after, or I am bloody blind.

You fellas were helpful before in advice on front wheel bearings.

Anyway, according to Ford I need to get the Diff Bush - centre replaced. They said $490 but I think I can get it cheaper.

I was just after some advice on what part to get exactly, part number wise etc. So I can maybe source it off ebay or alike.

Any help would be appreciated.

Cheers.

Patience bud, many of us work so can't always reply straight away.

If your centre bush is flogged out then I'd be looking at replacing the front diff bushes while the cradle is out, as the labour is the expensive part. Many guys will recommend you replace the stock Ford rubber items with Super Pro comfort series polyurethane bushes as they'll last longer without adding to much NVH. The issue with this is in a manual, like you have, you'll probably find that the comfort series won't last all that long either...depending on how you drive and how much power you're running. As an example, I destroyed a set of Super Pro comforts in less than 1,000km. The flip side of that coin is that stronger bushes (like the Super Pro competition series) are harder and therefore produce more NVH.

So it's up to you which way you want to go, you can go quiet and comfortable and no doubt have to drop the cradle again when the replacement bushes flog out or you can go bulletproof and put up with a bit of extra NVH. The thing with solid bushes is that they'll amplify any issues already in your driveline, such as backlash or a warn diff etc.

Sorry, I didn't mean to come across as impatient. I have had a lackluster day of sitting at the PC, so. My apologies.

Thanks for your reply. I don't understand NVH? And yeah, I don't drive my car very hard, sometimes I will give her a kick in the guts, but not often. So I am after something that is reliable and will last more than anything.

So I am open to suggestions.

NVH refers to noise vibrations and harshness. With solid bushes there's a good chance you'll hear diff whine and driveline clunks...but much less likely to break.

If you don't drive hard and you're running stockish power then you'll probably be happy with a set of Super Pro comfort series bushes. Pat from Wholesale Suspension (site sponsor) can hook you up with a set for a good price and he's a great bloke too.

How long have you got out of your stock Ford bushes?

Ah ok, thanks for clearing that up.

Well, I think they have had a good life, I am the second owner of the vehicle and I have had it since 2010 and got told by Ford bloke in 2012 that they would need looking at. So I finally got around to it a few years later. So they have had a good run. I am also running it stock, no mods of any sort, just a stock XR6T Manual.

Just need to know what to get haha.

In your situation then mate I'd be sending Pat a PM for a price on a set of comfort series diff bushes.

What state are you in? That way someone may be able to chime in with a recommendation of a good workshop to fit them for you. If you're anywhere near Pitlane Automotive in Victoria then they have an awesome deal on currently for Super Pro comforts including supply and install.

No worries mate, happy to offer what little knowledge I have.

Have a search for forum member senna_T

That's Pat, if you flick him a PM he'll be able to help you out and I'm sure he'll have some suggestions for reputable workshops to fit them in your area. He also has his own section under the Advertisers Forums, listed as Wholesale Suspension.
