Well gents,

Got straight into it on the weekend and dipped the rear badges and the fog light surround black.

Trying to keep this looking as 'stealthy' as possible. I had to do the fog light surrounds as IMO, that horrid silver factory colour has no place - It doesn't seem to fit or match any other colours on the car...

Next is diff bushes, coolant and front brake disc machining :spoton:

Nice purchase :)

I'd probably go straight to slotted rotors and new pads rather than worry about machining the front discs. Stock brakes are absolutely woeful - am tipping that's why you're thinking of machining? They won't improve as much as you hope they will.

Hey Danil,

You can't see it in the pictures but it's currently sitting on SSL/SSSL's. Sits great actually.

Rab, I've got a ton of front brake shudder, especially slowing from 100km p/hr + Might have to go some T3's and a nice street pad then...

Cheers,

Dan

Looks nice and clean mate.

I got some T3 slotted rotors all round, and new Bremtec Endure pads from Race Brakes in Wetherill Park.

Doesnt stop as good as Brembos, but stops so much better now and less brake dust than standard pads. And no shudder or sqeeling.

Don't bother machining the stock rooted rotors. DBA T3s are not that expensive these days. Rasma pads are pretty decent price too. Check eBay for prices. I bought from Vic Performance Parts (from memory) and no issues. Cheapest T3 rotors I could find.

Down the track put some T2s on the rear too.

That's a really good price for a pair for T3's, I was going to suggest BrakesDirect. But even that ebay seller has them beaten. BD are usually hard to beat on their prices.

^^^Yeah I think there's a better link with them for $445 or something including shipping...but that guy seems to be the cheapest (Matt @ Race Brakes Sydney could probably just beat it...especially if you can pick up from local depot)....

Hey Dan....whatever you do don't go the RDA's like I did....you will get this weird ass ticking/grinding noise and its super louder after say 70km/h onwards (and especially near barriers/tunnels along the freeways). It makes the car sound so povo but apparently the design causes it to do this (something about only having a few slots and being 'thick' slots and therefore the pad scrapes against it and RDA like to say that this is simply the case with ALL slotted or dimpled rotors (even though people don't seem to experience it with the T3's - which I am assuming is due to the fact there are many slots and they are smaller in shape)).

Don't know why people are completely dismissing stock brakes....they aren't that sh*t like all people will have you believe. Maybe they just get hotter/fade quicker than good rotors....but its not like you are going full pelt 24/7 in your car ON THE STREET (which you shouldn't really be doing anyways lol). Chuck some decent pads in and go some braided lines and that makes a good improvement. I went with the bremtec pads like 'Akidaki' did above...and the goodridge braided lines (recommended by matt@RBS) and I attribute minimal performance coming from the RDA poo poo discs ... and I find this combo pulls up the barge nicely. If you are really performance orientated go for more hardcore pads; but I was more concerned about minimal noise/minimal dust (even though these are pretty dusty when compared to OEM pads); but hey there will always be a trade off somewhere lol

But as I've already mentioned to you, nice score on the new car and good luck with it all :)
