Based on the photos it looks like you got it from Westside Auto. Only Ford dealers can sell you an extended Ford new car warranty.

If the car was first registered after 01/10/2011 is will still be withing the 3 year new car warranty when you pick it up on Tuesday and you will be able to walk into a Ford dealer and extend the warranty. Otherwise your only option is 3rd party.

Ford may have a grace period, but I am pretty sure you can only extend within the initial 3yr period.

yep, 3 years from first date of registration (as long as its done less than 100,000 Ks), so if your car falls in this category, GET the My new ford warranty (if you want/need extended warranty), its basically a mirror of the new car warranty. Personally, I would not even consider `other` (non-Ford) types of warranty. My car is out of warranty now, but all up (I got the 3 years/100,000Klms) I had several claims, no dramas, no limit (market value of car at time of repair), no worries (diff bush, timing seal & sump, new speedo cluster which included tow, upper/lower rear control arms, control blades, fuel line/brake lines etc etc) I saved a lot of money.

Geeeez you guys are all very negative with the 'aftermarket' warranties

I got it...paid $1600...made diff bushes claim ($800ish), got A/C component claim - guy was awesome and put it through as something else which was similar/wouldn't get questioned ($700ish) and just last week got a brand new tailshaft + balance ($1700ish)....of coarse each job has the decent chunk of "Ford Dealership Hourly rate" - $159 p/hour....but basically there are parts of the car that are covered and the first $2000 worth of each job is free

Catches are:

1) must be serviced by a Ford Dealership every 10,000kms/6months (well technically AHG dealerships)

2) specific part can only be claimed once (I.e. no more free diff bushes for me)

3) the list of covered parts are quite long; but obviously not everything is covered like a new car warranty would have

I still have 64,000kms or 3.5 years left of claiming to do.....but already pretty sure I've gotten my monies worth out of the warranty.

NOTE: yes servicing is farked ($300 odd)....but for someone who doesn't do any mechanical work himself - its only $100-$150 max more than any other reputable mechanic would charge. As long as I can claim another 1-2K worth of work...the price differences would have paid for themselves.

Of coarse this is only my experience and can't guarantee that your dealership/warranty will be as good....but just another point of view to consider :P

P.S. my dealer even said I can mod till my hearts content....as technically they still get paid the labour competent of the job, so at the end of the day it's still money in their pocket....kinda hoping my turbo will go bang soon....cause then I can order a GTX (or any turbo from the Garrett range) and can claim the first 2K under warranty...but not banking on that as I have been running the earls inline for a while...but you never know ;)

I'm with allianz extended warranty, (transferred into my name as well, for $90)

Had the diff bushes done at 95k and then a nice new turbo at 104k...

So no complaints from me

Edit - my car is an 2008... Extended warranty running out November 2014

echoing most of the above, the MyFord warranty is a good thing, if you are remaining stock, of close to it.

I have done diff bushes twice, power steering pump and rack, tailshaft bearing, and more since getting mine.

about 2 weeks prior to the original ending, I also had the cam chain skip a tooth, and put a valve into the head.
I don't want to know how much a head retails for, but ford replaced it with no issues.

that was at 35,000kms.

^^^jesus....2 diff bushes in less than 35,000kms LOL

did they put original OEM ones back in? my aftermarket warranty let me put nolethane ones in ... seems fine so far 20,000kms+ but haven't actually looked

Only way I knew my bushes were bad was due to shocking axle tramp on hard take off (auto)

was going to claim one my warranty (non genuine ford ) ,but all the parts that were faulty were not covered . like diff bearings ,gearbox clutches and bands ,timing chain ,cam shafts ,

piston rings , oil pump etc ,oil leaks, as they are all parts that are classed as normal wear and tear .

Hi All,

As an FYI, Just had a phone call from Ford re extending my new car warranty.

Expires 26 November and car currently has 61,000 klm on it.

She did say the cost is based on klm's done so for mine here's the cost:

Extra 2 Year / Maximum 100,000 klm is $1495

Extra 3 Year / Maximum 100,000 klm is $1685

Extra 3 Year / Maximum 200,000 klm is $2085

I have no mods and will still have it at least another 3 years so I am waiting on a call back from the Tax agent to see if any is tax deductible as car used for part business use.

(Interestingly no issues so far but is going back in on Monday to have the Windscreen washer looked at as not working)
