raz1911 Member 110 Member For: 11y 9m 17d Gender: Male Posted 22/09/14 10:09 AM Share Posted 22/09/14 10:09 AM I been poking around on the forums for a while so I thought id post up the rig.I bought a XR6 Turbo after a mate of mine bought a BA XR6 turbo ute and was impressed. As all my previous cars were turbo imports, 180sx then put a S13 front end onto it, it had a RB20DET. Then another 180sx with a SR20DET then put a RB25DET into it then sold that. I sold my last car a 1989 C33 Laurel with a RB20DET I put in it (was RB20E before). So I decided I was on the hunt for a Ford Xr6 Turbo after seeing my mates and I liked the idea of playing around with a 4L turbo instead of mucking around with 2L turbos that take a big effort just to get what a XR6 Turbo has stock! And this is what I got:I bought it off a guy who said it had 2 owners first was a woman who bought it though her work brand new to drive interstate then the guy I bought it offs dad but he passed away and the son already had a BF GT so he was selling this.Had some mods, had a "wog" cooler, middle muffler delete (very poorly done) a bigger cat and a different cold air setup with a pod and cover around it. Was tuned with a SCT tuner with 2 tunes a 98 one and a 95 one. He said it was around 250kw but he didn't have a dyno sheet so I don't know how much power it really has (most likely less).I didn't do much with it for a while just kept it stock but got rid of the dash mat. Then I decided to get some new D2 coilovers for $450 bucks which I thought was a good price for it with 12kg front springs and 6kg rearThen I got an offer I couldn't refuse, I guy online wanted to swap my stock wheels for Varrstoen ES2 19x9.5 with tyres that were basically new for the stock rims. So I went down the next night and swapped them over. The rears wouldn't of fit stock with it being so low in the rear and with the offset of the new rims so I borroed a mates wheels for a bit.It looked really really low on the rear and higher on the front and didn't look right for me so I bought some adjustable camber arms to make the rears fit and got the coilovers adjusted for them better. So for now that's all I have done to the car but plan to do much more. I have the premium sound option in the car so I bought some Kicker CS684 splits to use up front and will buy the same but not split for the rear when I find some. I also bought a 8" Jaycar sub to replace the stock one. But im not sure if I want to install them into the stock system as is or put in an amp at the same time, I don't know how much messing about that is to do to make it work with stock screen and what not so I guess ill keep doing some research on it.I also purchased off a guy from Facebook in a Ford sales group, a new intake pipe going to where the battery is and a copy process west intake pipe to make the piping a bit shorter, as I don't like the look of them going all the way around the back like some kits do. Then a few weeks later the same person was selling a 4" dump pipe so I bought that from him too.Coming from imports where the stock ECU can handle upgrades like new exhaust and other things without a tune its sooo hard waiting for me to gather the bits together and install and tune all at once lol but I don't want to do one part then have to pay for a tune then a week later do one and then pay for a retune so ill wait and gather all the basic bits and will install it all at once and tune.

How are you finding those coil over's?Was the car dyno tuned or is it an eBay tune. I ask coz wog cooler...might want to get somebody to give it the once over maybe? raz1911 Member 110 Member For: 11y 9m 17d Gender: Male Posted 22/09/14 12:08 PM Author Share Posted 22/09/14 12:08 PM Coilovers so far seem really good I have the dampers on the lowest, on the rear there is no damper adjustability though. But if people are more offset happy then 6kg is not stiff enough.the guy I bought it off said his dad took it to a workshop in Brisbane that did it all but couldn't remember the name so for all I know it could just be a eBay tune lol.But im close to buying some more bits so once that's all done ill give it a tune. I don't give the car a hard time anyway just use it for work and back.

They look more blue in the pictures but they are basically pure white. Edited 24/09/14 02:41 PM by raz1911

Used to be a nissan guy myself, had a 12 second rb20 180 and another with a 430whp sr20, was way back in 02 though. What else have you got planned before you get it tuned? What was done to it?Ill buy some 2.5" hot side intercooler piping, intercooler, cat back exhaust, injectors and ill need to buy a new pod filter as the one on there is only 3". There most likely will be more as time goes on lol.Styling wise I want to get it so I can put the center caps on the wheels which I just need to cut down that rear bolts and smash in the dust covers on the front a little and Id like to buy a XR8 style bonnet. But by the time I buy it then paint it I could get a heap of parts for the price of 1 painted bonnet lol.In saying that if anyone's in the Gold Coast QLD I have no idea whos good at painting price wise/ quality of work. So ill have a poke around and find out prices as I don't even know the going rate to get a bonnet painted?

With the supporting hardware ! Edited 28/09/14 02:00 AM by JVK

So ill have a poke around and find out prices as I don't even know the going rate to get a bonnet painted?Yeah man the car was nuts, it ran 11.7 @ 122mph on BFG drag radials and rock hard coil overs with the previous owner and was listed in the back of mags in top 10 under 2400cc street cars for a few years. I bought it as is and was meant to be built with rods, pistons, cams but about 6 months after buying it I spun a big end bearing due to "hardcore" performance on moss st jacking it up by the sump and blocking the pickup, didnt get to the kingston road before it was knocking.Turns out it just had forged pistons in it so I was pretty impressed it lasted so long with 27psi put through it daily by me and the previous owner. Also had a microtech ltx10 or 12, t4 sized hks turbo & manifold, subzero inlet manifold/throttle body, big everything all the usual supporting mods but wasnt built real well so was a bit of a blessing. Still have all the gear now and had a real tough sr built up to replace it but life happened the car gold sold and its all sitting in glad wrap on some shelves still waiting to go into something else lol. Gave it all to my old man who wanted to put it into a 910 bluey but will have to wait now.Pretty sure for same colour respray 2-300 would be right. I can double check with my mate who im going to see this week to get my guards rolled, he was a panel beater for 15 years on the goldy but only got out of it few months ago... and dont worry you'll do more mods lol. These cars might be heavy but the torque they make is just off the planet compared to any nissan ive been in. Before I drove my mates 400whp manual I was thinking should go ok, 400whp but car weighs a lot but yeah I was wrong. My 180 would have beaten it for sure but how it felt in the car was a different story lol.
