ThanksPeter I would also suggest you also have a look at what the Japanese have done with the Supra. After all it is a Japanese car and they love drag racing. The Japanese do tend to change the V160 at about 900 - 1000hp mark as most drag racing Supra's run a twin turbo set up (read loads of torque).I will find out more info and relay it as it becomes available. Gearsets in 3.08, 3.27, 3.45, and 3.73 and upwards are readily available. The Turbo and V8 BA run the new Dana/Spicer M86 diff, which is a completely different animal. Gearsets are available in ratios of 3.08, 3.23 and 3.46 at this time. Thanks Ben> I'm very interested in a taller ratio; 3.08 would be just enough to get me where I want to go with my driveline when I toss the TR3650. I am pretty sure though that I have the Dana/Spicer unit in my T3 - it does have DANA stamped on it so ...BTW, do you guys do the diff ratio swap? Maybe you can give me a ball-park figure? It should have a yellow or white sticker on the RHS of the main casing. This will have part number and serial number, and the ratio. It may say Dana on the sticker. It should be 3.45 ratio, LSD. The main case should have one vertical bolt on the front RHS to hold the diff to the IRS cradle. The M86 has two horizontal bolts on each side of the main case. The last TE 50 I did had the 78 series, but who knows? Ben. You have PM.

The first is the manufacturers weight will be dry (no oil, coolant etc) & the second is that if these guys in the US are drag racing they probably have bigger radiators, sumps, oil coolers, turbos, intercoolers etc plus they are probably running roll cages.BTW, the supra TT getrag is also used in the R34 GTR nissan (where it cops a bigger punishment due to the 4wd traction off the line) & the BMW M5...so that negates the weight concern. I'm trying hard to remember ... hmmmmmm ... I'm coming up with around 1650kg. As always my alzymers makes me a little uncertain ...

I am not a close follower of these vehicles but after checking I found the E34 was listed at 1670 kg. Must be the one I had in mind??? I also see that the newer models are around 1800kg - as with all makes and models weights seem to be very vaguely represented
edo Member 44 Member For: 21y 2m 19d Posted 09/02/04 11:36 PM Share Posted 09/02/04 11:36 PM Again you will find that manufacturers will understate the real weight of the vehicles. Ford doesnt say anywhere that your car weighs over 1900kg, its says 1750 or so. The real weight will be heavier & Id bet just about anything that the latest M5 (with the 6 speed box) is heavier than your T.It doesnt really matter. None of these cars are feather weights. The fact that they run the box in the 4wd GTR which will transfer much more torque into the box than any 2wd (less wheelspin) is a good indication of the box's strength. In any case, the Getrag 6 speed is a great box.

Just goes to show you cant believe everything you read on a web site.PeterAPS Edited 11/02/04 11:16 AM by aps
