NVT Formerly EGOBFXR6 Donating Members 1,111 Member For: 17y 3m 12d Gender: Male Location: Perth, WA Posted 22/09/14 11:08 AM Share Posted 22/09/14 11:08 AM Hi mate,I'd be looking out for the following; (Boost is pretty much on the money)Check coolant level and conditionCheck brake fluid and conditionDiff bushes, mounts and other linkagesCheck camber wear on the tyres as they do wear insideCheck panels for damage and see if they line up - Look for overspray in the doors, engine, boot etc from a resprayCheck the belts/pulleys for tensionI'd be looking at the colour and condition of the oilIf possible check the turbo for shaft play - Either back and forward or side to sideFeel for brake shudder or other irregular vibrations.Try to drive it from cold and when it's warm give it stick. You need to see how it responds.Front timing cover - common and expensive to fix...Also check log books in person and see who has owned it before you. Couple things to add.Oil colour isn't very helpful depending on the oil - mine is dropped at 7,500km or so and is pitch black every time. I've read it means the oil is doing the job of trapping the bad stuff. If it's lumpy oil then you have a problem Also a tiny amount of play in the turbo shaft in both directions is normal, but we're talking like half a mm side to side and a mm or to in and out I think. Someone correct me if I'm wrong, it's how much mine moves and it's 140,000km old.
