Mersin Member 43 Member For: 10y 4m 16d Posted 18/09/14 01:19 AM Author Share Posted 18/09/14 01:19 AM I was quoted $350 for the relocation of the battery, the new piping along with the pod filter located where the battery used to be. I know turbo back exhausts are expensive but I'm not in a huge rush, I'm looking at bargains for second hand parts, same with the intercooler. Unless doing the mods for $350 is a bad thing that will cripple my car then ill consider something else, from what I've seen and read in my eyes its looks cheap and worth doing. Am I missing something? Will those changes damage my car, or be too much for the engine (internals) to handle?Obviously I need a tune up and better injectors but that would be the last step, correct me if I'm wrong. So it's probably best if you purchase your intercooler first. Have you decided on what power level your after and or what your budget is? Knowing those two things will make it easier to give advice. I was just assuming that your on a minimal budget.

It's your ZF that I'd be worried about. Big dollars there if you want it built to last.
Mersin Member 43 Member For: 10y 4m 16d Posted 18/09/14 03:23 AM Author Share Posted 18/09/14 03:23 AM I only got the auto cos the ZF thought it was one of best gearboxes out there? I'm not looking to go over 400 rwkw though basically just the changes I mentioned. Is the gear box able to cope with those changes? So far my budget is about 2-2.5k$350 for piping, relocation of battery and pod filter(air filter whatever it is)so ill have around 2k leftover to do exhaust, intercooler, injectors and tune, is that possible or do I need more (mind you I'm looking at second hand parts, unless I should steer away from second hand)

IMO anything too much over this is just tyre frying and requires more money and more mods more skill to get the power down and avoiding obstacles Depends on your goal .Make no mistake this still a lot of power.again just my opinionfor what you are afterpanel filtercat injectorsIntercooler ( PW or plazmaman avoid Monza and Wog coolers)Tune ( this will cost you ~ $1500 alone with xcal box)This should see you over 300 rwkw without relocating battery etc if that's your goal at a priceWill need a bit more boost to reach a figure as not the most efficient.Maybe save a bit more to cover some extras as you will chew up $2.5 k pretty easyZF should be OK at this power level but I would recommend a full service as a minimum ( pan / filter/ oils etc)Again this will cost you additional hundreds of dollars. Not a cheap service and will vary by shopSecond hand bits have saved a lot of members lots of money but your recourse is limited ifit doesn't do what it says on the tinhope this helps , as always speak to your tuner for a steer

I still have the standard crossover pipe intake but with an F6 lower snorkel, sound awesome enough for me so no turbo side yet. My BF still has only 60k km on the clock so yours might need a bit more work though. Edited 18/09/14 05:09 AM by RB Snake

Mine wouldn't shift 3-4 for a long time... rebuild $3000 and good again but don't let it go too long as it takes a looooong time to relearn how to shift smoothly, or at least mine did. Was smashing into gears for a couple months and I drive it 500km a week...now it's good as gold again 99% of the time. Just if I change at the wrong time I can still get the bang I posted about.I bought my Nizpro cooler and pipes for about a grand second hand. New 42lb injectors, new full Manta 2x2.5" exhaust, new intank Walbro pump. Custom tune and XCAL3 device..about 5300 I think. Good for 120mph and 11 second quarters. I couldn't get a good launch technique so had a lazy 60' time and still got 11.9.You could get away without the full exhaust though and save a grand easy. Maybe another $3-500 on cooler.
