I am seriously considering doing a three speed conversion to my ba. I am pushing high 300kw and would like to go higher. So I have a t56 at the moment but was considering going the 4 speed auto for dragg. My issue is that I have heard that in this power range even a built 4 speed is a bit of a crapshoot. So thought of doing a 3 speed conversion. either c4, c6 or t400. These transmissions are reliable which is what I want.

What I want to know is.

  • Did your 1/4 time improve with the conversion? With a previous manual it would but what about the zf out of interest.
  • What mods does your box have. eg what stall, fmvb or rmvb, transbrake etc.
  • How does your shifter sit in the console, Is it after market or standard?

Im just trying see what everybody setups are and opinions on the conversion. Im interested to hear how the 3 speeds go behind the straight sixes.

cheers

I had the btr 4spd.

Removed it for a th400.

BEST MOD EVER

went from mid 11's and breaking boxes to now low low 10's and the box is bullet proof.

$9K drive in drive out

1000hp box

Converter

1000hp tailshaft

Stock diff

10.3 @ 139mph

Best with the 4spd was a 11.5 that was with 70rwkw less though.

Shifter looks sticking with just a b&m knob, can fit a manual knob and then it will look 100% stock as they use a manual console to house it anyways.

I have trans brake but never used it (stock rear end won't like it)
