Hello all, my name is Tom and I'm new to the forums. Towards the end of this year I am looking at purchasing a fg xr6 turbo, I'm wanting to know will parts for the xr6 turbo become more expensive and harder to come buy as ford are going to discontinue this range in the next few years, I'm just thinking ahead, if I ever need something replaced on the motor or anything mechanical will there still be parts available and at what cost? I will also be doing some mods such as exhaust, intercooler, cold air intake, injectors and tune will there still be aftermarket pars readily available?

Cheers tom

There will always be parts, in my opinion thee is more than enough falcons on the road to support aftermarket parts as well...

Performance parts will be the same I guess

Don't hold it to me, I was just thinking of the epic amount of falcons on the road!

Have you had a turbo before ? You will love the FG

I got mine 3 months ago and I still get a whopping big smile when I put my foot down

I did have a XR5 turbo about 4 years ago but had to sell it for a work ute, I'm after a family sized car with some decent power, I have taken the fg xr6 turbo with the zf box for a test drive and loved it, the zf box is very smooth, I'm wanting to take a manual for a test but the auto was very nice.

Mate I can't speak highly enough about the 08 FG ZF turbo with 145000kms I bought a few months ago.

It's a great family car, is reasonable on fuel, tows great and there's not much around that will beat it performance vs price wise.

It's my missus daily drive and she loves it........ And so do I .

I also have a manual but I love that ZF gearbox, it suits the turbo so well and is great for overtaking with a full load on board.

Buy one, you will not be disappointed with the performance !!!

I will most likely go the auto, I will still take the manual for a test just to rule it out. My whole life I have driven manual cars so I think it's time for the auto for comfortable cruising plus bigger sedans like the ford been a manual will probably get tiring after a while.

Another question I have is how does the fg xr6 turbo handle? I like to go for spirited drives around the great ocean road, I used to have the xr5 turbo and that handled like it was on rails, I know the fg will not handle like the xr5 but I'm still after a good handling vehicle.

Mines only got pedders sports shocks and it's OK for a family bus.

A lot of guys here have fitted shockworks coil overs for a reasonable price and rave about them.

I'm sure they'll chime in any minute!
