Firstly, you cant drive a xr6 turbo on your Green P plates because its over 125kw per ton.

Red P platers can't drive anything turbocharged apart from some smart car or somthing. The list is on the Vic Road website.

If you have a major smash. The insurance WON"T cover you because your not legally able to drive it. (that's if you get insurance)

I drove a BA Typhoon back when I was 19, I kept getting fined for driving a vehcle over 125kw per ton back on just red plate days.

There is a small chance you could get away with a stock ba/bf is a low key colour ( from cops) . However insurance factor again.

I agree with you Fordrive1, However young p platers don't buy theses vehicles to take the turbo badge off. They buy theses cars for there mates and they want everyone to no its turbo at the local maccers hang out.

If my statement wasn't true, Why would you risk it and why wouldnt they just buy a N/A XR6

The fact of the matter is your better off waiting for open season off your ps.

Why did u start this thread 2 days b4 you got off your P's?

Kind of pointless don't u think?

I believe im the only one here who has got off there p's yesterday but I didnt start this thread... :)

I was trying to point out that since 20years of age, I started driving a XR6, 22 XR6T, 23 F6... I have never been pulled over which is what I was trying to say... By the way I sold my 1st car the XR6 to a L plater who was about to get his P's... Look I just want to say, yeh P platers shouldn't drive high powered vehicles full stop, not even standard 6cyl cars. They should be only restricted to 1.4 or 2.0 ltr cars. If this was a final decision by the state and full stop... than lets see if someone dares to drive a high powered vehicle. There are laws there to protect and that we must obey but things never go that way and we all know that... lets just get over the fact and that's the end of story...

As for the person who started this thread, there are ways around stuff, if u put the effort in and think you will know what I mean. Otherwise you probably might be taking a risk...

Goodluck, all the best...

There is no way round rear ending a Merc bouncing off that and taking the corner off a house then having your insurance can you because you aren't legally driving the vehicle on a road.....mmmm $300,000+ bill to pay off for the rest of your natural life....

Dags, some people will NEVER get it.

They are the same ones that drive around saving $450 a year by not having insurance and think that its ok.

I think they should make it compulsary that people have insurance just like they FORCE us to pay TAC Insurance as part of our rego.

A couple of my buddies drive without their P plate. As long as you don't stir up any trouble, why would cops stop you ?

But if you get caught:

NSW: 7 demerit points + $400 fine

VIC: 4 demerit points + $1100 fine

:beerchug: remove any badges identifying it, put an xr6 (not turbo) badge on the back and theyll prol think its a faker. theres plenty going around. then rebadge it properly when you are off ya p's. you wont be able to mod it though cause the tu tu tu tu will give you away. :verysad:

haha yeah im 19 on my p's in victoria I bought my xr6 turbo ute about 6 months ago. the only insurance company that would touch me was racv and it actually is insured if I crash because ive got an exemption my boss wrote vicroads a letter saying I use it for work haha. removed badges and covered up my intercooler with a grill and I havnt even been pulled over yet and ive got boost gauges, 19's, dropped on its guts and 339rwkw. its just if your being a d@%&head in it hanging roung town. that's when you get done
