The only accident I HAVE had was when on my scoota licence as a result of making the MOFO drift on wet grass every afternoon for sh*ts&giggles.I wish the W.A public would see through this lame dick effort to win the hearts & minds of voters - which it does. Great Aunty *beep* is driving allong in her Camry and an EF & VS fly past, both wearing P Plates (most of the time this would actually be 20 something year olds with crappy jobs having a drag) "it's about time they banned those high performance cars" she says when she sees that Carpenter has said just that if he is elected. It's f*cked.PS: I agree with D here, not that other bloke. And M8 if I where not smart enough to take my Corolla off road to chop up then I would be dead 100 times over from all the drifting and snaking/180's ive done, that is the kind of influence these POS cars have on us, just like what D was saying bout the Daewoo driver. An xr6turbo can turn around the wrong way very quickly, and it happens alot to "experienced drivers" aswell. It also goes like the clappers.A corrolla for example, you may be able to get it to spin one day, if your really trying to, and it may also get to 100 km/hr one day, again if your really trying. It also means that most people, as they grow up, realise that's there is no use in a flogging a dead horse, so they won't hoon around as much, cos their horse is dead. Maybe have your driving test IN the performance car and have the instructor assess you, to see weather you're capable of driving it or not, rather then just do the whole "Minority ruins it for the Majority" sh*t we are seeing. There's just soo many ways to get around this problem rather then just ban younger drivers, they have just as much of a right as everyone else who has their license, hell half the older people that got their license didn't even get proper training! mic Donating Members 1,725 Member For: 16y 10m 27d Gender: Male Posted 24/08/08 10:35 AM Share Posted 24/08/08 10:35 AM there are a million things the government could do to make things safer. move poles, 90 degree gutters, concrete pillars and other unecessary things away from the side of the road (as well as fix up the actual roads). but its cheaper and easier to do the p plater thing because they are "in general" the only ones who commit the above do-ings. As a P Plater I took dad's canary yellow coke bottle cortina station wagon for a spin that would be better off forgotten about, and while all I achieved was a massive fine and an earbashing from mum it could have been much worse. I'm no angel but a time and a place.Like Mark said he doesnt know the solution and I cant see banning youngsters from these vehicles as the answer. Will this not encourage them to do a "backyard half arsed" attempt at getting more power? As it has been recently pointed out to me the humble moped/scooter can be modded with a few bit n pieces from your local Repco.Maybe like Aaron says educations and an extra class on your license to show you can handle the power and the situation should it turn sour. Then if you are busted being a hoon that you loose it. Don't penalise everybody for a few.Deonie

Posted 24/08/08 10:55 AM Share Posted 24/08/08 10:55 AM They are funny.Gosh glad to be off mine in two weeks.I get harrased by cops everywhere I go.I dont agree with their proposal. Though there is some amatuer dipsticks who cant drive their cars, have rediculous power with not a clue how to control it. These sorts of people rewin it for the rest of us.In some aspects no, the first car a p plater jumps in shouldnt be a high performance car they cant control. Like Kael for exmaple, he's had another car, built up some confidence that he can drive in different situations etc etc now he wants something with abit more go. Theres no proof that this law will directly save lives, coz hey high performance or not... you can speed in any car, drag in any car, crash in any car.when you look at the performance cars, newer models have more advanced safety features in case of a crash, discouranging newer/safer cars.... leaves more risk ...the driving test doesnt assess circumstances which may occur in the wet etc etc. possibly some extra driving / assessment to correct the issue.they way they are portraying this whole thing is just silly, they have that girl who died in the car crash as their main pitch. No disrespect or anything but that case wasnt ordinary, how many p platers steal cars... drive around on "L" plates etc..if anything they should crusify the "L Platers" rather than the P's. He's been off his P's for ages! People really just associate it (hooning) with the young guys. But what about the old nutter who is half blind and goes everywhere @ 40kph? They may never had an accident but how many have they caused, and just kept driving cause they havent noticed it???Apparently we have all been spelling HOON incorrectly. From now on please insert 'P PLATER" where you would have once written HOON. Deonie
