Hi all I am new to posting on this forum although I have read it for years! I've been driving a BA manual for the Last 9 yrs, great car but have just changed over to the FG mk ii auto. It's done 10,000k purchased

Only days ago. This is my first auto loving it and the quicker spool up of the FG but it has a serious driveline jolt when you plant your foot then Back off the accelerator quickly. Is this normal? I seem to think it is from reading various threads about the ZF in the FG. I'm unsure of the state of the diff bushes I will check them just to be sure they are OK. Apart from that the ZF auto Is great no noise otherwise & changes smoothly. Just a bit worried about the clunk on backing off? Any advice appreciated cheers. The car is still under

Warranty.

Yeah it's normal we all have it, feels and sounds chit but ppl have tried and failed to fix it. I've got super pro bushes in the diff, zf and diff serviced, different suspension. Don't know the solution so just love with it. And enjoy the fg, congrats on buying essentially a new car!! When I bought mine it was a yr old with only 15,000ks on it and still had new car smell, gotta love near new!

Thanks For the reply looks as if I'm going to have to get used to gently easing of the pedal ! Problem is she rockets through 100 so fast by the time you ease of you are doing 130! Ha good problem to have. Huge difference between the BA

and the FG picked it up for 37k with towbar window tint and lux pack has the grey ford 19s on

It, just need to learn how to drive it smoothly

Yeah I get a massive bang if I get off the gas fast at certain times. You'll have to get a feel for it and retrain yourself. Also have read suggestions that it can cause timing chain to jump teeth. I had my valve springs upgraded and they found mine skipped a tooth. The 200,000 km played a part though no doubt.

Its a Ford mate. Just refrain from getting off the gas quick. Its alot of torque on the driveline under load when you just jump off the gas.

No dramas thanks again for the replies just wanted to make sure its fairly normal. A few mates raised their eyebrows when I bought the

FG after owning the BA for 9yrs I guess that's because they have never driven a T before!! One of the most underrated performance

Cars ever some people have no Idea what they are missing...

Hey Turbine 11, the banging is something that I'm still getting used to as well and you can reduce with some careful throttle handling, however has anyone noticed if it gets worse? My 50T has only 40K on the clock (w'original diff bushes - I checked them when I got my ZF serviced and they seemed ok to me and the mechanic), but I think that its getting harsher. Maybe I'm just more attune to it...

You will learn how to control the accelerator and prevent it from occurring. If you are doing short bursts from stand still I find if you let it change gear first, then easing off the accelerator it wont happen. I remember when I first got the car I would do it all the time, can't remember the last time I let it happen now

Something else to note is that it's been suggested that giving the car a gut full and suddenly jumping off the throttle, causing the bang, could cause the timing chain to jump teeth. A pretty serious problem.

They pointed out they have no hard evidence to back up their theory but they are very well regarded here so I'm gonna go with it!
