Hey everyone, Im Adam from Adelaide and Im about to buy a T but I really want colour black but everyone I speak to says that's its a nice colour but it shows all the scratches and is very hard to keep clean. Just wondering if any black XR owners have the same problem.

p.s - this forum rocks, I have been reading all the posts for a while as a guest

cheers

It all comes down to how you clean it. I've seen quite new XR6T with swirl marks everywhere from washing them, I don't have a single swirl mark anywhere on my ute and the paint looks great!

My AU III VCT was black (Silhouette). Yes it was hard to keep clean, just be careful to check sponge (or what ever you use) for grit and you should be OK.

I used to find the polyglaze products worked well (Wash `n Wax) and Nu-Finish for one hell of a reflective surface. Polyglaze Diamond Finish was also brilliant.

On Phantom however, I find the Meguiars Wet Look works wonders but on black? Hmmm! :smilielol:

well, I own a silhouette T and I will be the first to admit that yes, they are hard to keep clean...

however, I love it and don't mind spending the time on it...

-use clean sponges

-use a clean chamois

it is a stealthy looking car and totally rocks :) get one

the red turbo badge on black looks wicked in my opinion, you can see it a mile away!

check out the cruise threads...some good pics of the black beauties :)

chooch,

Mate, BLACK is a mother of a thing to keep clean but it is worth it - it looks like MAGIC ;) . Make sure you get paint protection - worth the money in the end.

Also stick to Meguiars - can't go wrong. As for ed-au-ba-xr6's question, I use the wet look and it goes great, but make sure you use a good sponge and chamois as crisso said.

Let us know how you go. And if you need pics tell me, I'll post some up.

I couldn't get a good result with the AU with Meguiars, Mothers....etc. Wonder if there have been any changes in the colour itself since the BA.

:banghead: Can be a bit difficult to keep clean, but you have to wash all cars once they get dirty anyway! Swirl marks, scratches, and stone chips can be a problem but if you are handy and patient with your polish, she will look a treat all the time

Here's a pic of mine after a bath.

I agree the Silhouette looks absolute stealth - definitely worth the time to clean it twice a day

And, although it shows the dust very quickly and loses it's clean look, the fact is that the really bad marks like tar spots, which take an awful lot of time and hard rubbing to clean off any other colour, don't show up at all.

I have a Silhouette T3 - the first black car I've ever owned and I wouldn't hesitate to buy another. In fact I like it so much I may never again buy any other colour. :banghead:
