rollex Member 683 Member For: 10y 5m Gender: Male Location: Australia Posted 03/08/14 08:08 AM Share Posted 03/08/14 08:08 AM I have just had my 270rwkw r32 skyline (1300kg) written off due to a rear end accident, I've managed to get $10k from insurance and have another $10k of my own I'm willing to spend. Apologies in advance if these questions are newbie, I've done a few searches so hopefully I've got some idea. I've decided to upgrade to a XR6T BF due to it being a safer car and now that I'm 27 want to lose the dickhead label that makes cops love to pull you over. I assume due to being almost 500kg heavier I will need a solid 50kw more to get the same seat of the pants feeling as my skyline so I'm looking for a car already making >300 or modding a stock example to > 300. Now I've found a few 6 speed 2007 BFs (looking for examples > 06/06 so they have the typhoon motor with different valve springs that can make the power) for around the $12.5k mark, assuming they are in good nick is this a good price? Now I could buy a stock one for around 12.5k, then to make > 300 I need the following (please correct me if I'm wrong).Full exhaustIntercoolerInjectorsECU / Real time tune (no mail order bs)ClutchTyresWastegate actuator (to stop boost creep)Air filterFuel pump (is this needed?) What would one realistically expect to pay for all of this if you install half of it yourself, $4-5k ? Knowing this for $16k am I likely to find a manual BF already making > 300rwkw ? What would you guys recommend? I've seen the skyline scene and over there it is always far more cost effective to buy someone else's money pit and put a few $k into fixing their problems vs doing it all from scratch, even if they stuff it up it is cheaper to fix than to buy everything up front. Thoughts, should I wait it out to find a modded example, or should I buy a stock one and do it myself, if I do it myself are my costs realistic and is there anything I have missed. Thanks guys. edit: How do these cars fare with kilometres, is 185,000 kms a lot? Is it anything to worry about? What kind of things would you expect to fail at this distance and would you be hesitant buying a high km example.

If you shop around for used parts you can do it for 3k I reckon.

I am looking for a kit with everything I need that I can install myself, so something that doesn't require cutting is preferred, do both of these install without doing any more than drilling a few holes? Also where do people recommend to buy ID 1000 injectors and intercooler, is ebay safe to buy from, or are there fakes on there that I should beware of?Is there an intercooler thread people would recommend reading? Thanks. It requires cutting as well, a lot of kits do though.Yes there are fake IDs on ebay.

Anyone else I should look at that requires minimal cutting? If there are fake IDs on ebay where does everyone recommend to buy them from?
