They are not easy to weld to keep their shape and seal when both come together. I normally have both halves together with the V band and tack and TIG small sections and cool with a rag and I still cant get them to mesh perfectly flat. Turns out it was only a snapped diff bolt, I presumed a split hat because there was literally oil everywhere, seems like it was coming from the breather up into that rear crossmember then leaking into the ground when the car was stationary? Any one seen this before? Took the centre apart and all looks good, a few heat marks on the bearings and runners, obviously I'm changing all the bearings and seals so punched everything out, now just to wait for everything else to arrive..
