No doubt about that, I'm thinking more along the lines of where is the actual box getting its cool air from? There is sweet Fark all circulation going into the air box... We'll soon find out, it's an inexpensive exercise for my next free weekend

If you really want to know what is going on, measure it.

Measure pressure between the filter and the turbo.

If it is lower than atmospheric pressure, there is a restriction.

To test if the intake is a restriction, when you're on the dyno and after you've done a power run with the intake on just remove it so the turbo is free and run it again....

Make sure you use a blow gun to get rid of any and all dust, stray tar stuck rocks etc sitting down low as sucking one of them in!!!

I may try that bjc, There was a fella recently at a dyno day that had the air filter/piping off, high mount turbo sitting proud making just shy of 1000hp I think, then an alloy cover over the power steering lid came off and straight into the turbo... Not a pretty sight at all

but my thoughts are more that the cover is doing its job to keep the hot engine bay air out, but may not be letting enough fresh air in from outside the car, so I will probably do a run in normal form, then again with the air box lid off... But I'd also like to take advantage of any extra air it can get in normal driving conditions, so basically better channelling of the air towards the air box/filter as is done with the factory and FG GT/KPM intakes...

I would be taking the drivers side fog light out and running some big conduit from the backof the hole (as the bumper fog light hole is bell shaped inwards and has the backing extended to connect the conduit to also!) up to under the headlight so it's forcing fresh air in as best as possible.

Maybe also try removing the filter to see how it affects flow as the big problem is all intake pipes are right angles to the air flow and front of the car but whether this affects flow once on boost I do not know?
