Any thoughts on an aftermarket or fg intake plenum? or is the ba/f one not as bad as it looks

If you read through from post #120 of the thread, peppy has put a lot of detail into it, well worth the read

He puts both on a flow bench and then ports the BF manifold to get better flow

And guts out the top half

Thanks Wilko

Matty, Looking back at post 126,

I originally flow tested the Ba/f manifold and FG in Std form

BF 136cfm @0.45" Valve Lift

FG 141.5cfm @0.45" valve lift

So 5cfm is not a major difference, but some people claim that the FG manifold has more even air distribution..

My manifold came up at 163cfm @0.45 lift so about a 20% increase in flow, where there isn't much you can do to improve the fg manifold without cutting it up..

I would really like to flow test some of the aftermarket plenums to see how they compare..

The car is still fine, the 2-3 change is getting better and I'm still just making sure everything is right before I turn it up, and saving up for the spark booster, Trans sump, and now some more tyres -_- ..

Anyone know where I can find a set of gt335 9, 9.5, or 10" rears, I'm aware of the Forged wheels, but $5k is abit rich after a big build

+1 want to see the after market comparison. The manifold porting you did seems to be a lot of mucking about (only my thoughts) but that said is a very effective and cheap mod. Also keeps it looking super stock. Got a pic of the bay to see what you've done re piping? Just cause I'm curious

If anyone is in South West Sydney and has a plaz or PW plenum and a are b series bottom half handy I'm happy to throw it on the flow bench!

Your right Fifty one, we spend big hours modifying the plenum, but it was really all just labour with a die grinder, and reciprocating saw, so a 20% increase in flow for free if you can do it yourself is pretty good imo..

I don't think I mentioned that I actually Ground a few spots on the top half too thin, this showed up when I did a water pressure test on it, so I got a friend to weld the spots where it was too thin, it only needed to be tacked from the inside then I would just grind it down again, but he miss understood what I wanted, so started welding up all the ribs in the plenum!!!

Look closely, you'll see the shiny bits

Quite annoying but I ground most of it down it it looked better, but it is still obvious, anyway, today I got some cast alloy coloured spray pain, sprayed it first, then sprinkles some Matt black over it aswell and it came up pretty good, if you look closely you can tell, but to the untrained eye it looks stock

Will an b series NA coil cover fit our covers? I want it looking a little neater, but can't bring myself to spend the money on the billet ones

I read that but I was thinking more along the lines of aesthetics, throttle body locattion and intercooler piping routing?

Also do you have a spare weekend to come build my gearbox?
