In a nutshell... I got the turbo rebuilt and it lasted a week then the bearings failed again (split the cage) I cleaned the oil feed, primed it with oil before starting it etc, the re-builder said something had to of gotten in there and pretty much blamed it on the PTFE thread sealant I used on the feed nipple that screws into the housing, claiming some how it must have gotten in there... Anyway I got it rebuilt again with a Bronze carrier, it's a garret item, it's noisy but is more forgiving with harsh environments like mine, like excessive heat and excessive wheel speed.. Was booked in for the dyno when the converter finally sh*t itself, I suspect the lockup or Stator has started to fall apart.. it has been showing signs of wear for a while.. Anyway I have a 1A Circle D on the way .. I'm in the process of removing the box, I'll open it up, give it a good look over and a flush.. That's about it I'm over spending money on it!!! I've been doing alot of tuning for friends and acquaintances, and helping with people's setups, spending other people's money is better Thanks guys, I'll update when I can

Did John at Precision rebuild it??? Did he call that carrier a race pack??? If so I had that in my stock turbo when I rebuilt it, noisy as feck !!! So noisy I took it out and replaced it with a stock one.

It's only really noticeable when you turn the engine off, sounds the a stock turbo when it's on it's way out I've found a company willing to sell me their own design ceramic bearings and rebuild kits so if I ever need to build another one I'll do it myself and just get it balanced by someone

They are now however available as an upgrade option on all Garrett Dual Ball Bearing Turbos and Core Assemblies. This has become very popular with customers simply for peace of mind or for a faster road or race application.' But I read through the whole garret catalogue and looked through the website and couldn't find any info on it, so I'm not sure.. Anyway I'll just have to see how it goes, the noise doesn't stress me, but yea a factory core is probably the way to go for a daily driver

Well I sure am now! I got the box out and opened it up, I suspected something was wrong in there but didn't want to believe it as I already ordered the Circle D.. Anyway, the Front Planetary had failed, https://vimeo.com/161987597 Basically the carrier flexes/bends causing the planet gears to roll out of true and destroys the needle rollers, which makes a mess! Nizpro have a billet carrier and gear setup but it's not yet complete and they won't sell it to outside workshops, so I purchased an FG donor box, picked it up for $600 with stuffed clutches, decided to get a Niz billet intermediate shaft and finally got the alloy pan I wanted A full strip down, replacement of all o'rings and seals and also made some changes to the clutch packs.. In a way it was good to open the box and inspect the packs, as it helped identify any problem areas that could be improved for next time or improved in the tune.. it has done about 10,000 hard km since the build and everything looked great, "e" pack was worn about 1mm the rest were less, so I'm making some changes and see how it goes! I wanted to retrofit the lager Niz billet FG intermediate so started measuring mine and the donor one and they were the same, so my BF was already the larger FG one Billet vs Std The pan, its beautiful, it holds about 2l extra oil to help with cooling and possible surge on a hard launch, and the fins also help with cooling The internal side of the pan is about 18mm deeper, and had spacers for the filter so it still sits at the bottom of the pan.. Externally it is closer to 40mm lower which worries me abit as it was already low before! So we'll just see how it goes Finally to finish it off, what's a built box without a bodgy black spray job to complement the new alloy pan haha Just waiting on the converter and very keen to see how it goes Thanks Guys
