Hey joe just read the entire thread mate - wow, most detailed, informative and entertaining thread on this site I've seen in years. Congrats with everything so far - hope it comes together for you, gives me confidence to have a crack at building my ZF and worries me my engine looks like yours did before overhaul haha

Thanks 747, that was the aim, so if I helped at least one other person I'm happy and means it has been time we'll spent documenting everything.. Good luck

The thread is definitely not finished yet!!

9's to come eh? Then you and veva can be in the "so bad ass not allowed to race" club together.

Seriously though, you have been an inspiration to many I'm sure, and you can be proud of that. But more importantly you can be proud of yourself for what you have achieved, the friends made on the way and helping others also which I know you have. I to feel like having a go at the ZF. Auto rebuilding has been on my list for a while...

Your a legend Kent :-)

Well that's enough praise from me for a lifetime, don't ever expect it again...

On another note,

What's the most power anyone has made on the stock BA/F exhaust manifold?

Dad believes the poor flow of the the exhaust manifold can also be contributing to the high cylinder pressures, especially with the increased flow of the intake mani/ports

Most power through the stock exhaust manifold would be pretty farkin' high, probably over 500kW+... it's not much of a restriction, especially with a turbo that can push a lot of air attached to that teensy T3 flange :)

Your dad is on the money,Stock b series manifold is quite a restriction Pep. ETM had proved on the dyno up to 13% more hp like for like going from a stock manifold to a tubular turbo manifold. 13% doesn't sound that great till you consider 13% of 440kw is 57 odd kw.

You only need to look at a car Like Brendans (ih8toads) Stock BA bottom end pushing oner 400rwkw and gets driven like it owes him money, it's still alive due to top quality breathing mods ie plenum and 6boost mani (and some pretty top notch tuning)

Yes you can make 500rwkw on a stock manifold but you can make the same power with less stress/boost on the motor with a tube mani or more power at the same boost.
