I ended up going with the mahle Pistons, apparently a lot better technology behind them, and they are quite abit lighter, they are slightly higher then standard comp but once I work out a cam combo and decide on a compression ratio I will just get the deck and head milled to create whatever I want... The standard Pistons were sitting about 0.045" down from the deck @TDC, so plenty of meat..I got the Manly H beam Plus rods, with the 7/16 ARP2000 series bolts rated to 1100hpGot the 12mm ARP head studs and ARP main studs..Fabre do their own oil pump gears, so I thought I'd try themAnd also got ARP bolts for the ring gear..All up that cost just under $3200I'll be getting the Spool girdle and Powerbond Race series balancer tomorrowI also rang a few people asking about valves, Fererra only seem to make a 0.5mm oversize in&ex valve otherwise it's custom, does anyone know of any others off the shelf?Joe

I've always looked up to my father and I've always known him to be a wealth of knowledge, seeing him in action yesterday brought back childhood memories when he used to take me to his shop on Saturdays and school holidays and I would just watch him measure/check clearances assemble engines and flow test heads... He really is in a zone when he does it and I am grateful that I am learning off him... I realised I really couldn't be doing this without him..Anyway, we just checked all the new rods, Pistons and bearings over, so put the bearings in the rods and torqued them up to spec using a stretch gauge, measured the pins, small end bushes and Pistons... Everything was pretty good, either perfect or under 0.0005" difference...We worked out what clearances to run on the crank and what to get it ground to..Some comparison picsCan't wait to SMASH MY DATE!!! We're taking it there this week to get the crank ground and bores honed so we can dummy assemble it to work out how much to deck the block to get the comp where we want it, so it will go back then, and then once more for balancing before final assembly.. And the head will have to go there to cut the seats, possibly take some meat off it aswell...What conrod jurnal bearing clearance have you run? Factory is 0.001-0.0015.. My worn bearings were 0.0027!! We're thinking of setting it at 0.002 so it has room to wear? Edited 06/12/14 11:01 PM by Peppy_t92

Just have to get through till March and I'll be in the clear and full steam ahead with the build...But basically I'm trying to get a lot of the stuff done that isn't costing me anything for now, it's probably better because I will spend a lot more time on the development of the head... We all know data is key, so the old superflow110 will be getting a workout..Thanks for the interest,Joe
