Xr6T With Rear Lip Spoiler

My first post. Apologies if I've put it in the wrong spot!

So I ordered my first ever XR6T. Kind of excited as you can imagine. Requested and was given a written quote for an additional $725 for the rear lip spoiler in place of the standard wing. I confirmed the order in writing. Car arrived at dealer with standard wing. Dealer now says it will cost an extra $3K (on top of the $725 quote) to have the rear lip spoiler installed. Why? Because the holes don't match, and to fix it properly will need to replace the boot and badge (rather than patch the holes). Kind of OK, I'd prefer they do a proper job. Also more cost because the high mounted stop lamp is part of the standard wing, they need to install a new high mounted stop lamp in the rear window. This will also require a new parcel shelf to fit the high mounted stop lamp properly, and of course rewiring.

They made a mistake which we all do, so I'm not really annoyed, but the fact is they didn't do their homework (I assumed, wrongly, it would be ordered from the factory with the lip spoiler) and they will lose their margin. They want $3K more and have made it my problem. Not happy.

In fairness, they gave me an amazing price in the first place and would have had very little margin. To supply the vehicle as quoted they will very likely lose money on the deal. I don't want to be unreasonable about it and am willing to pay a bit more (because the initial price is very good) but $3K extra for this work seems ridiculous.

I really want the lip spoiler look (probably would have ordered G6ET if they came in manual) and chose wheels to match. So, while the whole thing is still being negotiated, if they're not going to give me a reasonable alternative, can anyone recommend a shop that will do a quality job at a reasonable price to replace the standard wing with the lip spoiler, no holes / new boot?, and add the high mounted stop lamp in the rear parcel shelf?

Phew, long story for a simple question but glad I got that off my chest!

Gloss hasn't gone off yet, still looking forward to getting my first XR6T (with rear lip spoiler)! Any help will be really appreciated.

How was the quote written?

Lip spoiler supplied $725

or

Lip spoiler supplied and fitted $725?

If it was me I'd be asking myself the question of how I would have been dealing with the salesperson if this price was bought up at the time of purchase - would the extra $3k have been acceptable or not? Am pretty sure that price would have been VERY negotiable before you signed the dotted line.

Depending on the wording on the quote they may have you over a barrel, or you them.

Maybe worth making a call to Ford Customer Service - they should give you a personal manager/contact and work through them to get your best deal.

Thanks Raband, that's helpful. I did have a price in mind, but not $3K. The quote was for the vehicle 'with rear lip spoiler' - it didn't specifically say either supplied or fitted but my initial discussion with them was about it being fitted. They agreed to come back to me with another price today so I'll see how that goes. If the price is reasonable overall I'll go with it. If not I'll take it with the standard wing and look at second hand or after market options.
