Intank Pump Upgrade

I didn't Mick. I fitted the pump in, started and checked was all good. Then fitted injectors and a start up tune. I left the rest to my friends doing the tuning. This is all new to me. Should I check ? Not sure if they did I'd have to ask.

a pump like that will normally exceed what the pressure reg can control so you end up with higher fuel pressure at low engine speeds, the tuner can tune around this but the fuel trims will also correct it to a certain point, but I believe in having the correct pressure and try to have very little correction

Something to consider when fitting a 460 pump or similar is to upgrade the wiring feeding it.

Most think its the fuel pressure as the major issue when fitting one of these but for me its the factory wires being far exceeded in amp draw...the 460 pumps draw like 18AMPS where as factory wiring is only good for 15AMPS max.

Its commonly known as a hotwire loom it allows the factory loom to be plugged into the hotwire loom which then plugs into the pump.

The earth wire cops a flogging on these factory clips with huge pumps.

I too, had similar reservations as to the capability of the Walbro 255 l/h pump to keep the surge full, with prolonged periods of WOT. I am looking to push a bit more power than most, so, I ended up removing my PW surge tank and pumps and went for a KPM 1500hp in tank module.

I am also going the intank route, as I am switching to e85 too.

I called kpm for their stage 1 kit which includes walbro 460, fg modified pot, and fuel reg. it is suppose to be anti surge.

It comes with an addition wiring to increase the amperage. I was quarantined by Dave at kpm as long as it was installed properly, it should max out 430 to 450 rwkw on e85 At .85 lambda, which is perfect for me as I only want to push standard gt3582 to low 400 range

^this is what I'm using.

Just checked my records... Pump was $790.

Comes with all necessary wiring, fuse, relay and the correct fuel pressure regulator.

The 460 pumps with "larger" pot is not by any means a surge solution.

Make sure you remove the plastic fitting that is on the return line in cradle or drill it out as much as possible....it has a 4-5mm hole and slows cradle filling and return line operation is hampered with a larger pump.

I run a 3/8 plastic line inside my cradle E85 friendly for the return with no fitting at all...hose sits snug in the hole just pushed in there.
