I'd be looking for binding issues in the pedal assembly before changing the throttle body.

My BF F6 had a broken magneti n the throttle body drive motor. The throttle plate would not return on it's own under the spring tension and I never once had a hung throttle. The (very clever) drive by wire system ford use is able to drive the throttle blade open and closed. If the PCM tries to closed the throttle and the throttle blade does not respond it will cut fuel and spark to the point where the motor will barely run.

TL:DR

Check your throttle pedal cover, they have been know to slide down the throttle pedal lever and jam against the flow.

EDIT I have had a hung throttle in my old BA ute, Was cause by driving home in work boots and dragging the throttle pedal cover down till it hit the floor. I had to reach down and pull the throttle back up by hand.

Ralphy is correct, there are protocols in place to stop any out of control acceleration like described, any failure to control it will put it in guard mode, that is unless the pedal is actually stuck down or held down like mentioned

I had this in the past, a turbo rx7 that would accelerate full throttle when you least expected it, scared the crap outta me!

It was the cruise control coming alive (was turned off, short circuit somehow I suspect) and giving a full throttle command which the engine happily delivered. Disconnected the cruise control motor cable to isolate it and didnt have a problem again.

Forgot about it when I traded it in, dealer re-connected it and when it was started in the workshop it went to redline in neutral and blew. A mate in the fire service attended, said he had never seen that much smoke without a fire!

I had it 25 years ago in a HQ with a red motor and a Holley.

What followed was about 200 metres of foot on the clutch and alternating between locking the steering, panicking and hitting the starter and valve bouncing, then locked steering, then valve bounce, then locked steering then curb and blown tyre.

Two return springs after that :/

I can only imagine that not being too funny in a turbo falcon.

My brother's BA used to do the same thing. He wrote it off into a power pole one night, the police did not believe the accelerator got stuck and he got charged/fined.

If you don't mind me asking, who are you fighting in court? Ford? or your mate?
