Is A Tune Really Required After Turbo Swapping?

It will probably be fine (but I would check it with an a/f ratio meter to be sure). There is really no tuning going on with these PCMs. Just some adjustments to boost tables, getting injectors dialed in (if you changed injectors and only 3 numbers being juggled) and some raping of the ignition advance files.

At moderate boost you can be out + or - 15% on the fuel and its all fine. Just make sure you run 98 fuel.

There are too many who say, "oh yeh mate, you need a tune" but they have never done the job, just repeating words their tuner said so the tuner can rape them more.

sorry I should've mentioned it was a stock FG turbo so from what I've read that's GT3582 / GT35r being spoken as on a few forums, I just expected that the car would cough and fart under load since its not tuned with this turbo but seems like its just as powerful as it was on day 1, I am quite concerned about A/F ratio as I did mention it smells rich when you push it a bit but then garages are quoting me $600+ for a tune where it feels like it probably wont be a full tune kills my motivation to go out my way and take time off work and pay that much if its not something that requires a full day of R&D put into the vehicle

I got an FG with a GTX3582 also but 4" exhaust and nizpro intercooler and 1500cc injectors

A tune in its raw form is getting rid of boost cut, adjusting the boost table for desired boost and dialing in injectors. I am running a raw tune ATM. Its about 5 min work at I am running 12 :1 at 16 lb of boost no problems

There is so much power there that there is no need to touch the timing tables and nor fueling tables. And its a PIA to play around with fueling because its all flash tuning as opposed to adjustments on the fly tuning.

Now you can go further and start rescaling tables for higher boost and there are a few other adjustments to get rid of torque limits and the dash warning light but you would be surprised how little that needs to get done to run say 300-350 rwkw.

You would be best to get something like an innovate wideband guage to see what your ratios are. It would be the best $200 you ever spend.

Even Nizpro did a demo of how lean you can run engines at high load.
