Bit of a set back yesterday. Pressed all the new ball joints and bushes in no dramas, but looks like dash has to come back out and the old one back in. A real pain in the arse as it was already in and wired up, icc/cluster installed etc. A couple things were broken from the accident and a part of the loom was damaged. Its all changeable but its just easier to swap the old one back in, cut a new hole for the traction control switch and move on.

Off to the wreckers today to pickup the additional brake line that runs from the ABS module. Didnt realise it was different so left it on the gold car when it was taken away so now its spend the morning on my back in the dirt at a wreckers lol. These are the only issues ive run into so far so im happy with that

Well the build has gone well so far so I feel lucky about that but have run into a few super frustrating issues which is halting progress. Friday night I managed to strip a thread on the front camber arms, it was far from being tight so wasnt too impressed. They were the nolathane jobs from the gold xr6 so were used previously and maybe some damage was already done or im just a beast, who knows! Decided to just paint a few bits and pieces and rebuild the calipers over the weekend then take a break from the car and get stuck back into it today.

Ground the weld away today, pressed the stud out and got it all sorted / back together, then 20 minutes later finishing up the front end I snapped a bolt off the top shock mount on the other side. Looks like the bolt was fatigued so might have been a good thing but I dont feel that positive about it at the moment lol. From memory ive only ever stripped 1, maybe 2 threads on anything and never snapped a bolt so im glad I at least got to double that tally.

Braided brake lines came in but turned out to be rubber, so took a quick trip up to springwood brake and clutch to get a set made up. Should be ready tomorrow, pressure tested and stamped for DOT use so happy days. I ordered a set of EBC redstuff pads so combined with the freshly rebuilt brakes should do for now.

a week ago, then last friday, finally today lol. probably friday to get it running and driving excludnig unforeseen circumstances. after that ill wire up the stereo and put finishing touches on interior over the weekend.

The adjusters seem cheaply made to be honest. They'll do everything they need to so long as they hold in their position, that part never gave my mate any issues in the few years he owned the car so should be good. Fitting them up today another 2 studs broke, cant say I didnt have vivid images of them flying across the workshop but its all good now - one of the billions of times im thankful to have someone experienced helping.

Picked up the braided lines today. Really happy with the finish and as I said all tested and DOT approved

Heres is the offending shock bolt which broke last night. Dropped that in the press this morning and swapped hats over, no dramas.

Heres our fix for the broken studs on the camber arms. Ground the weld back which wasnt for the stud anyway, then pressed it out and fitted a high tensile bolt and tacked it in. Welds on the bolt were only to stop it from rotating when tightening it up.

Looking good, was feeling pretty tired today but definitely felt good to see it sitting in there. Still a LOT of work to do but feeling excited now.

Love how it looks in the black engine bay which harvest green comes with. Was hoping to do the clutch/brake/power steering/washer fluid bottle black as well but will probably skip it for this engine as its taking up workshop time and needs to be finished.

Yeah we always ran them on my race bike and was a massive difference. I'll get the rears done once we sort out the additional brake line that runs to the rear but for now its going together without it and the extra hole in the abs unit plugged. Will probably disable traction control in the ECU until its sorted properly but for now its the best way. Never thought too highly of the traction control in these, and wheres the fun in running it with under 700whp anyway! :D
