I am to scared to go hard on my standard brakes ,ever since I owned a au xr 6 that had so much trouble with brake shutter .on the highway nearly impossible to pull it up in a straight line . was going to fit t2 and some up graded pads to suit but have run out off money ..was also going to get bradded lines ,which I think is a must on these old ba lines that are on my ute .its very interesting to hear about the difference in brake fluid .

Which track is it?

What is your budget?

You will find out VERY quickly how under braked and under tyred these cars, but it will still be fun.

Bare minimum do a brake bleed and some better pads.

Just about anything will be better at the track the stockers.

Liquid Intelligence 318 fluid (Forum Mainlube sponsor) will hold up if you decide to change the fluid completely which is recommended.

Do a cool-down lap and some cheap fans in the pits help too on the front. Leave the handbrake off all day. See pics.

I have run stock brakes with some T3 rotors, Remsa pads with fresh fluid and it is doable if on a budget. Pads went after a couple of laps and there was literally smoke pouring out of the wheels at the end of Wakefield straight and coming into the pits.

I have upgraded to some Brembos though and the Liquid Intelligence fluid Neldonian mentioned.

I will find out how it goes there next week :-)

When I did my track day all you can smell when you get back to the pits is breaks. I have brembos so weren't too bad but manage to darken the callipers.

Pretty sure Nelsonian is talking about the hard to see red/orange things at bottom of the grill, I recall one of his threads he said he has brake ducting from a V8 supercar?

More pics Nelsonian! Love your car.

For those that don't know he overtakes Evos and STIs on the track! I can imagine their faces.

Right fog light removal feeds an ZF cooler with thermo fan. Left foglight removal a big engine oiler cooler.

Little front splitter is available here:

Maybe 20kg downforce max, but I like the look of it.

Scrapes on my driveway though when the car is lowered at the front. Nightmare in carparks too.

It all depends how hard you go, for me I wouldnt waste my time with stock rotors and pads, would kill them in the first lap.

If you go hard minimum would be new fluid, T3 rotors and good pads. OR drive like a nana
