My XR6T sound like it has developed a noise behind the front engine cover. Sounds like the chain is loose to me.

Car has only done just over 23,000kms and has only been tuned since 21,000kms

I hve been running with thr tock tune to see if it made any difference this past week and it hasnt.

I have been told these cars have some multi stage hydraulic adjuster in them.

How hard is this to get to?

Would it be an expensive job to get done?

If anyone has pics or has found a post about this could you point me to it?

its always possible. Would it be a constant noise though if it was broken?

This seems to come and go randomly. Forgot to mention it has occurred when hot and when cold and other times it sounds like its working perfectly when hot or cold

Replace tensioner and idler pulleys with metal units. Injectors can be noisey aswell. Could even be one of the other pulleys.

I got the same issue. Changed the first 2 I mentioned and got new water pump when I built my motor. Seemed alot better.

ill check my pulleys first. I already replaced the upper idler pulley with a metal unit about 5000kms ago because it was noisy. will have to drop the belt off and check both anyway to be sure

But Its definitely a separate noise to the injectors. Experience of what slack chain sounds like on other motors is pointing me in that direction as much as id prefer it not to be

Having the same problem. Seems to be at its loudest at about 2000rpms and more so driving along then in neutral. I believe it's to do with timing chain aswell.
