Hi guys,

Need to get some tyres for a XR6T(280rwkw) before the EOFY & I'm tossing up between these 2 tyres. Both same price, have heard both are good bang for your buck, just after some opinions on people who may have had 1 or the other. Preference is grip over wear.

Currently have the Ku31 & have done about 27,000km on them with some life left in them, & have been ok but if Achilles are grippier may choose them.

I've JUST bought 4x ATR Sport 2s in 245/40/18 and before that often drove on 235/45/17 KU31s. It seems that the ATR Sport 2 have better grip even in the lower profile tyre from what I've found so far. Also got them for only $10 more than the KU31s, which were $169each but the same shop wanted $219 for 235 wide 18's, whereas the 18" ATR Sport 2 I got at a different shop for $179 :)

No idea how the ATR Sport 2 will perform at lower tread levels yet though. I have about 320rwkw. KU31s weren't great after they wore down. Not shocking, just OK.

Would prefer Nitto Invo's all round for better grip though. They have been fantastic for cornering back when I ran 17" wheels.

Nitto invo

I heard they are better but they are also alot more dearer.

Thanks SteveR, might just go with the Achilles then. Was just a bit hesitant as never heard of them then read about them in another thread.

Got to agree with you on the KU31 on the grip when tread is low, although I have a lot more power now than when they were new :)

Depending on size ebay has INVO for as little as $200 each. What size do you need. We get ours from Taleb Tyres

True but the OP said he prefered grip over wear. that's why I suggested INVO, for a bit more money, a lot more grip.

Halp.

invo then atr2 then KU31.

Maybe also consider Nexen 6000 and even better Nexen 8000 if you are on a budget. But you get what you pay for.
