yes it's been done and the best advice is to get everything from the same car,

seriously though, it's easier to trade and buy a ZF

we had a customer do it and we had to help get it sorted, his biggest mistake was getting auto from 1 car and ecu from another, he ended up needing to replace complete wiring loom to BF spec which meant extra knock sensor, ecu ABS unit, tune dash unit, oil pressure sender, diff etc

my car just finished getting it converted to a zf and just make sure you get everything from the same car even the abs unit as we found there were something like 6 diffrent abs modules and only work with a certain computer
