When starting the car, I saw on a few occasions a dashboard warning that voltage levels were low so I replaced the battery. Apart from the fact that the car starts a lot easier, it seems to be running a tad sweeter with the new battery. Dunno if this is imagination or not. I wonder if a dodgy battery has the potential to affect fuel economy too. Any thoughts?PAH Link to comment https://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/topic/88560-symptoms-of-a-dud-battery/ Share on other sites

My dash flashed a bunch of lights and speedo dropped to zero whilst driving a few times, I found the new battery I'd put in was OK but the connections needed wire brushing BADLY.And yeah the cars always run better after putting in a freshy! It went in when the car was half way through a tank of fuel and I noticed the fuel economy started to improve. I've since filled the tank and reset the fuel economy gauge. After driving to and from work in Sydney for a couple of days, the indications are fuel economy has improved after installing the new battery. I need to do some more checks as my trips so far have been in light traffic (Saturday). If the economy has picked up as much as I suspect, I am surprised that a dud battery has that much affect on economy. On other plus with the new battery - mobile phone calls do not drop out when I start the car.PAH 1 Link to comment https://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/topic/88560-symptoms-of-a-dud-battery/#findComment-1481617 Share on other sites
