does hydrodipping stand up to heat? I guess the rocker cover doesn't get crazy hot.

The shop that did it said that it will be fine as long as the heat shields are in place.

I (hopefully) will be meeting up with a guy that runs a high mount turbo on Saturday night who had his dipped a while back so I'll be chatting with him about the heat side of things

Whatever color/patten I ended up with, I wanted it to stand out Angel - you know - in your face when the bonnet is opened.

Did another left rear wheel bearing and had to get my spare hub assy up to Ford to fit new bearings to it

Fitted it yesterday morning. Once the car was on the hoist, it took 47 minutes to put it back on the ground.............. see Jet, you CAN teach an old dog :)

I see your point..........hmmm now what colour.

I was thinking along the line of black/gray/whites but if its colour you're after then red would look alright keeping the theme of turbo's red.

Almost 2 months and the Rocker is still sitting on the coffee table hahahahaha ... There are a couple of other bits I wanna get dipped in the next couple of weeks (before they close for xmas/new years) and then I'll put it all on..............hey knob ;) ;)

Sooooooo - Wheel Bearings

The left rear bearing (remembering that I just bought an entire assy from the wreckers to get me going after the first bearing went) ummmmmmm, well, went. Must of been affected by the weather or something I guess.

I took my original assy up to ford and they pressed in a new bearing saying that the hub was fine so a mate and I installed the assy and about 3 days later I noticed that it was a bit noisy and I had to pump the Brembos again for full pedal (to stand the wheel/rotor up straight) so I took the car straight up to Ford and some mechanic said, "You didn't tighten up the shaft nut properly mate".

Bull farken sh*t.......I may be old but I'm not a retard FFS.

The 'new' (Ford supplied) nut that I got ($28) when they replaced the bearing was tightened as per their specs which according to Fords head mechanic up there is --- Tighen up with rattle gun set to medium torqure, loosen off and re-tighten with rattle gun on high torque until you reach 'farken tight NM'

Anyway, Ford tightened it up again and 2 days later I put new tyres on the rear (KU36's) and my tyre guy said "Don check this out" and you guessed it, the nut was loose AGAIN and the hub had a lot of play (AGAIN) so I borrowed a car, raced home to get my 'deep socket', went back, tighened it up and went straight back to Ford Mt Barker where they put Loctite on the nut to hold it tight.......Ohhhhhhh Dearrrrrr.

4 weeks later and the nut is still tight but obviously the bearing is farked......noisy as all crap.......I've spoken to a few people (including my Tuner) and all said the same thing, The bearing wasn't installed correctly which 'more than likely' caused the nut to loosen which in-turn has stuffed the pre-load on the bearing so now it's a left shoulder job.......FML

Not going back to Ford -------------- EVER.

------------------------------

So what else

Emergengy Operation on my leg a cupla weeks back -- that was fun. I currently have a open wound on my leg about 1.25 inches by half inch and about 5 to 8 mm deep (was 20mm deep but slowly healing and will take about 2 months). Did I mention the constant pain?

-------------------------------

Finally put the car back on the Dyno this morning to fix the error codes (P0136 & P0138) and Brett said it's because the waste gate duty cycle was outside the desired boost control (coz tuned in closed loop) in the 400 kw tune to keep all the factory safety stuff in it still so he fixed that, took the 2 error codes out of the G6 and then did another tune for me..........coz we were having fun chatting (or he was having a bludge for a while hehehe)

I sat in the car the entire time he was doing all this and OMFG it was fun watching him tune it -- He explained every table that he adjusted and why he was adjusting it.......I understood (logically) at the time but I have no farken idea now hahahaha.

He gave it a bit of fuel, a bit more boost and brought it on earlier and let it hold a bit more torque coz he reckons the trans is still feeling fantastic. Didn't have to play with timing or anything and in the end it only gave 3kw more but I have 21 (and a bit) psi almost 600 rpm earlier. He couldn't get boost any quicker coz the car kept 'auto down shifting' at around 2000-2500 so he had to pedal it to 3000 before he could floor it :) :)

He rang Chris (Herrod) to see if there is a way to force the ZF to stay in 4th but unfortunately Chris said that that is what he has to do with FG's with 400 or more as well but he said he will ask his old man (Rob) when he gets back to Australia to see if there is a table or something that will lock it in 4th for dyno runs ---- Who knows if it can be done or not.

I have ended up with peak torque at 3500 (940NM (raw) limited) and 403.6 at 5600 (no graph smothing) with 17.57psi going through it still.

WOW I gotta say, what a difference to the original 400 tune......boy does it feel good on the road.

Obviously it rained this arvo here in SA (Coz car on dyno hehe) so I will give it a good play on the weekend and report back......thank god for the rain..hopefully it puts the fire out that's still burning up at Mallala

Oh and while I'm here ratter, when we went for a big test drive once he had finished, he wouldn't stop praising your Trans Tune........seeeeeee, I'm not the only one that loves it mate ;)

Looks slow cause no graph. You can still play catch ups with me if you want. Lol

Alos I wonder if a place can do 2 for 1 trans builds. Because I see us both needing one in the not so distant future. :(
