BenDoCo I'm getten too old for this s**t Bronze Donating Members 4,509 Member For: 11y 8m 7d Gender: Male Location: A big bridge over a river in South Australia Posted 19/06/15 06:58 AM Author Share Posted 19/06/15 06:58 AM Sooooo, have you all got a snack ready A couple of weeks ago, the G6 went back to the Dyno to get those couple of things adjusted coz I'm sure that you all understand that what happens on the dyno isn't necessarily what happens on the road.As mentioned above in a few posts, I really wanted to see the difference (on the dyno) between the standard FG turbo and the GTX..76 and Brett at APE was more than happy to adjust the things in the tune that were 'a bit' concerning to me.The first thing that we (Brett, Chris (the guy that did the first tune at APE) and I) found was that the dyno wasn't calibrated correctly therefore it was throwing up results that were outside of the Ford parameters -- I think that's what they said anyway -- so I left the car with them and the dyno was reset and the tunes adjusted accordingly but unfortunately the cars ECU 'bricked' itself and wouldn't accept any more changes.Oh no..........So sad.Seriously, I somehow knew it wasn't going to be a problem.Brett rang me to let me know what was happening and said that I can have the car back (coz he knew that everything was safe (ish) with the tune that was flashed to it) and told me that he had contacted Rob Herrod to get some advice as to why it may have bricked....I went down to Adelaide to pick the car up and Brett told me to "be careful with it just in case"...............yeah right ------ lol ----- as he had wound the rubber band up to 419kw. Yeah that’s right – 419 on 98 Holly crap, it was a rocket ship, so I went out with a few friends that Friday night a fortnight ago and was playing with a mate and his 450kw VL Commy even though Brett told me to 'be careful'........wish I listened......bad Don, bad I absolutely shattered the inner CV of the Right (drivers) side Half Shaft............ooooppppppssssss.We had Roxy towed to 'my mate with the VLs' workshop and I grabbed a Repco half shaft Saturday arvo but they gave me the wrong one......farken Repco, plus we didn't have a 36mm socket for the hub nut so John (the VL owner) hit up the barra boys and club_fg pages on facebook and asked for help to get my car back on the road -- Cheers heaps to all those who responded or rang but a few other friends rocked up with a cupla bottles of JD for a 'drinkypoo' so John and his Mrs leant me their VF SS Wagon and I came home. Nice car ^^ Wrong shaft and they were closed when we realised. The funny thing about wrecking the shaft is that it didn't happen while we were playing.....it shat itself when I was on my way home as I made a left turn. All the hard time I gave it before this is what actually broke it but who cares, all fixed now.A few of us went out last weekend and I blew off two intake hose clamps.......stupid worm drive pieces of crap......so the next morning, I went over all of them and snapped one whilst I was tightening them up.Bomber sent me the link for the fancy clamps that he uses. I'll order them over the weekend so I don't have the problem of 'no boost' while I'm playing with an aftermarket S/C'd crappydoor ever again So anyway, it went back into Graham West (APE) on Wednesday just gone and Brett took over the final tuning of the G6 and un-bricking of my ECU and even though I know the reason for it bricking, I'm not sure if the other people concerned would like me to post the (in the end, simple 'ish) reason etc.As Brett is keeping ratter at Pit Lane in the loop about my car, ratter can explain what went on when my ECU froze up with the Xcal3 if he wants too but I won't..........coz I might get it wrong anyway and give the wrong info.Gotta give a huge shoutout to Rob Herrod for being able to pinpoint the cause and suggest a fix for it. Thanks heaps mateThat's twice that Herrod Motorsport has helped me and my car out. Cheers to both Rob and John. -------------------------------------------------The final tunes with my new GTX3576r turbo have surprised the crap out of me and remember that the ONLY other changes besides the turbo were the Fuel Module/Pump and a Bosch Fuel Regulator being fitted for safety.I never thought that it was possible to get this power out of a GTX..76r on BP98 but as has been said to me, a combination of tune, good mods and a car that "just keeps making Torque" will reward you. Brett said that it was a bit of a struggle keeping the torque down to try and protect my ZF coz it just kept making soooo much.I asked for the boost to come on a bit slower than normal for these baby turbos but that's just me. I spoke to Bomber and Biz about it and seriously, I would probably kill myself if I had 20psi at 1500 rpm on the street but the best thing I reckon is that this little Garrett turbo lets you tune it YOUR way.Looking at the printout, it looks more like a GTX..82 and a couple of people have now made the same comment. Not sure how it will run down the quarter mile but looking at the dyno sheet and feeling what it drives like, I reckon that it should do OK Huge thanks to Pit Lane - again - Cheers heaps Mick - you're still looking out for my car....awesome Chris but especially Brett West at Graham West Workshops (APE) here in Adelaide, cheers for a fantastic tune. I have no problems with recommending Graham West Workshops to tune a modded Ford Turbo. Excellent service and communication guys.....Cheers.And just to swell his head a bit, I gotta thank Jet for giving me heaps of his time and walking me through all of the dyno printouts and ALL of the dyno screen shots that I took from the first tunes put into Roxy and guiding me in the right direction to make sure I asked the tuners to look at a few areas so the tune was able to end up being the best it could be ----- for me, my driving style and my car.---------------------Oh and one more thingMy exhaust note from the Nizpro - not only while cruising but also under power - has changed quite a lot. It has lost that hollow, tinny sound and now has a nice deep throat in its note <-- hehe I'm awesome.... I guess that having 6 injectors that all work properly and timing and spark to suit what they're doing makes more difference than I ever thought. Just gotta fix this one v-band that still leaks and try and work out how to completely close the valve when the cars at idle and slow cruise.

Interested to know how it handles the upgrade (the electronics side of the diff) if it's still standard!I know what turbo I'd be choosing for everyday duties....That fcker! Also and this is not a stab a the tuner or anyone else but don't bring that car up north (Nth Qld) with those AFR's as they simply don't like it (being tuned in the 12's down south first)...I had the same problem with my BA and although it felt ok the dyno and track said otherwise!Different fuel mix and different climate... Yeah I understand about the afr's. I've read a few posts of people taking there cars to Sydney (for example) for a tune, going back to qld or nt and the local climate plays havok with the tune. I never plan on taking it to qld but having said that, I have a lot of relies on the sunshine coast so I shouldn't say "never" I guess
