If you're following along at home, you may remember that the auto sparky put a nick in the dash (above the steering wheel) while he was installing the triple gauges.. To start with, I told him not to worry about it as it was such a small mark - but he insisted on putting it through his insurance and replacing the entire Dash. I felt really bad about that coz he did the gauge install fairly cheaply for me and now he was gunna be up for a $xxxx insurance excess.

It was suggested to me that I offer to put some dollars towards the excess (which I did) and Craig ordered a new Dash Pad to be installed and the car spent the last cupla days in their workshop getting it all R & R'ed.

The guys at Bridge Autospark took these photos for me to share with ya'll --cheers guys -- and they had to take one of my handbrake coz it's got some marks on it...............lol

They found that two mounting points where broken as they were taking it apart.....damn plastic

Almost there

Passenger side kick panel hides the 'Fuel Cut Module' ( ;) thnx ) and all of that had to be moved out of the way to get to a couple of mount points

Looks like it was soooooo easy to drop the steering column and remove it --- from the pics anyway --- hehe

When I was younger, I would of tackled this myself but just don't have the confidence these days

So all they have to do now is change all the other stuff over (wiring harness, air bag etc.) to the new Dash and work backwards to reinstall it

I am a bit into impulse buying ATM and a few weeks ago (please don't ask me why because I have absolutely no idea (Rab)) I hit up fleabay and bought a UHF Radio.

It's a GME TX3520WS that has a remote head (the main unit sits under my 'new' Dash) and a Push To Talk (PTT) bit that attaches to the Steering Wheel so it can be used hands free

I got them to install it while the Dash was out so all of the wiring could be hidden yet leaving it easy to remove if I sell the car (would probably include it in the sale though).

I grabbed the same Antenna Mount that Angel spoke of in his thread from Industrial Evolution and fitted it to the drivers side of the boot but sat it back a bit further than Angel did so I could fit a connector in it to enable the antenna to be removed if / when it's not needed.

They mounted the Head Unit and an External Speaker under the ICC ----- nice and neat

.............Sorry about the camera flash.............

Now I just need some friends to talk toooooooooooo

So with everything finished, Craig the auto sparky refused to take any more than a cupla hundy for the UHF install....... he WOULD NOT let me put anything towards the insurance excess for the new Dash even though he accepted my offer to to begin with.......Cheers heaps Craig.
