This thread is exposing my fundamental lack of understanding of intercooler construction methods. Always imagined bar and plate must have actual solid bars inside. Makes sense to see it's the same fins, just at right angles on each layer.

Guess I'll go google tube and fin.

^^ I'm sure the OP will appreciate you going to the extremes of taking the pipe off, crawling inside, replacing the pipe only to realise that you forgot the camera so take the pipe off again, getting out to get the camera, crawling back inside, replace the pipe again and taking a photo but next time.........................turn the flash on

Drawn by somebody that prefers tube and fin clearly

LOL at the turbulence caused by the solid spaces between the cores being an issue with bar and plate but magically non existence on the tube and fin that also has solid spacing between the cores.

biased point of view is biased.

True, tube and fin probably flows better, but bar and plate is thicker and stronger. A stone may hole a tube and fin, but would have to be a big rock to hole a bar and plate.

For street I like bar and plate. Just cram in the biggest cooler you can. We talked about this in the other post. Coolers are like cocks, biggest rules.
