Yes, unfortunately. Should have added, "rolling contact fatigue". One thing on that. My springs (as most do at 300 ish) had float. One theory is if you're on the cusp, valve float will compound the problem as the valve train 'chatters'. Not all lobes had issues. In fact, most cams have only displayed symptoms on some lobes - often cylinders 5 and 6. Since I've fitted the PAC Springs and donor CAMS, there is no further signs of wear. They were checked recently when I replaced the HLA's. I still use Nulon fully syn but have gone to their long life 5W-40.

Anyway, hopefully we'll have the full findings soon.

found out how much new rollers are of FORD $110 each and we need 24 of . the parts sales man never sold any ,or was tolled that they had a problem with them .never had a problem with the cams . I was thinking of just getting a na head with good looking rollers and just using the rollers out of them

Investigation not complete however professional opinion of my chopped up cams thus far is..

"I feel it's a combination of uneven depth and hardness of the induction hardened laying and rolling contact fatigue"

Translated that means the case hardening is sh*t. If you've got close or have experienced float, you may be getting 'chatter' also. I don't think a quality oil - semi or fully syn has got jack sh*t to do with it. Soft springs and dodgy hard casing though, another story IMO.

So if the cams themselves are the fault, is there a possibility of Ford doing something like replacing faulty ones or is that tooooo much to ask?
