I've done some research and I've found diesel oil in a petrol car is better at protecting than most petrol oils and here's why

Diesel oil doesn't have the restrictions placed on it the same way petrol does because they don't have to worry about catalytic converters. So they chuck in all the zinc and molybdenum and pretty much any detergent they can get their hands on and throw it in there while these additives are not good for the converters they are good for your engine lubrication.

If I am incorrect please correct me but that's what I've read so far about diesel oils.

^^ not me that's for sure

I trust that my mechanic is doing the right thing -------- which I'm sure he is

No Mechanic is able to tell whether the oil is doing it's job correctly, there is only one way and that is to test the oil.

When I started using e-flex I was concerned about the 10,000k service intervals as ethanol can dilute the oil.

I went from 10,000 to 7,500 intervals as a precaution and had the oil tested.

Results came back fine and was advised that the service interval could be extended.

Next was a 10,000k service and another oil test, to my surprise oil test was positive and advised could extend the interval further.

I left it at 10,000k intervals as I now know the oil will be fine for that amount of klms.

diesel oils these days have to not cause issues to diesel particulate filters and because of this their oil has changed and in some cases is the same as petrol engine oils, the above comments were not meant to imply you could put old style diesel engine oils in a petrol car.

This may have already been covered but is this cam wear issue just on the turbos or has it affected N/As as well.

I wouldn't think N/As have valve float issues so we maybe able to eliminate it or make it the number 1 suspect !
