15-20 mins mate. the first reading was after 5 mins of driving. I then drove for a while and when I got home I took a reading while the car was on.

I then turned the car off and waited a good 10-15 mins while the temp cooled down to take the other readings.

Why you ask?

what are you trying to say? I didn't drive long enough?

:P

not at all, I was just trying to get a like-for-like comparison

does anyone know where the oil temp sensor is actually located?

maybe I can get a better reading with the IR thermo closer to its location

ok. I took a reading from the turbo oil feed line, on the passenger side nearest the block.

I think this may be a better place to get a reading

changed the equation to;

(((A*256)+B)*3)/68

reading was, after an hour 1/2 shut off

torque 44c IR gauge 43c

I'll take more readings as it cools down and then when its hot tomorrow

***update***

ok. the above equation seems abit closer to the IR readings(if they're right)

torque app IR thermo

1.5 hrs after 44c 43c

2.5 hrs 32.8 32.2

6.5 hrs 22.5 17

(footy first lol)

so its closer but still not quite right

(((A*256)+B)*3)/68

Anyone got the zf gear indicator to show more than the first 4 gears?

yep. got it working the other day. you needed to change the header in the transmission gear PID from auto to 7e1.

this'll show all 6 gears and reverse as 7th

Well I have been using your equation burkley05 and the EOT is lower than the coolant, by almost 20 degrees.

Does that sound right?

yeah, that's about what mine shows. which is what the IR thermo was showing(still not sure if that's how or where we should be measuring it though)

your post from earlier with the Forscan EOT readings seems to say otherwise

Went for a drive. keep in mind that it can take up to 30 seconds to a minute to swap between torque and forscan. I am not sure how accurate this is.

Results:

Torque -------------- Forscan

70 degrees -------------- 93.0 degrees

78 degrees -------------- 95.6 degrees

77 degrees -------------- 94.0 degrees

75 degrees -------------- 93.1 degrees

74 degrees -------------- 91.9 degrees

Please remember that you can not have both Torque and forscan running at the same time.

so im a bit lost on what readings to go by(I would lean towards the forscan readings)

well I will have to check this later on as I don't have my tablet with me.

However I get the feeling that the temps difference is now 40 degrees instead of 20 degrees out.

I will verify this later and let you know.

Just out of curiosity, with the formulae, how did you come up with the number 3 and 68?

what do those figures represent.

Surely the formula is defined somewhere on the net?
